ٱللَّهُ
يَتَوَفَّى
ٱلۡأَنفُسَ
حِينَ
مَوۡتِهَا
وَٱلَّتِي
لَمۡ
تَمُتۡ
فِي
مَنَامِهَاۖ
فَيُمۡسِكُ
ٱلَّتِي
قَضَىٰ
عَلَيۡهَا
ٱلۡمَوۡتَ
وَيُرۡسِلُ
ٱلۡأُخۡرَىٰٓ
إِلَىٰٓ
أَجَلٖ
مُّسَمًّىۚ
إِنَّ
فِي
ذَٰلِكَ
لَأٓيَٰتٖ
لِّقَوۡمٖ
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ
٤٢
Allāh takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that do not die [He takes] during their sleep. Then He keeps those for which He has decreed death and releases the others for a specified term. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.

Allah memegang nyawa (seseorang) pada saat kematiannya dan nyawa (seseorang) yang belum mati ketika dia tidur; maka Dia tahan nyawa (orang) yang telah Dia tetapkan kematiannya dan Dia lepaskan nyawa yang lain sampai waktu yang ditentukan.1 Sungguh, pada yang demikian itu terdapat tanda-tanda (kebesaran) Allah bagi kaum yang berpikir.

Ibn Kathir (Abridged)
إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَبَ
(Verily, We have sent down to you the Book) meaning, the Qur'an.
