يدعو من دون الله ما لا يضره وما لا ينفعه ذالك هو الضلال البعيد ١٢
يَدْعُوا۟ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُۥ وَمَا لَا يَنفَعُهُۥ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلضَّلَـٰلُ ٱلْبَعِيدُ ١٢

وَمَا

يَنفَعُهُۥۚ
ذَٰلِكَ

ٱلضَّلَٰلُ

Ellos invocan en lugar de Dios aquello que no puede perjudicarlos ni beneficiarlos. Están en un error profundo.

(يدعو لمن ضره أقرب من نفعه): فيها إشكالان؛ الأول: في المعنى؛ وهو كونه وصف الأصنام بأنها لا تضر ولا تنفع، ثم وصفها بأن ضرّها أقرب من نفعها؛ فنفى الضرّ ثم أثبته. فالجواب: أن الضر المنفي أولًا يُراد به ما يكون من فعلها؛ وهي لا تفعل شيئًا، والضر الثاني: يراد به ما يكون بسببها من العذاب وغيره. ابن جزي:2/51.

In verse 1, put simply, God did not come to play. Allah sets the scene for very serious warnings. Allah uses the world 'zalzalat' in reference to the Day of Judgement, and while it refers to the physical quaking/shaking of the Earth, we can understand it as so awe-strikingly terrifying that it 'shakes' each creation of Allah; human, jinn, animals, and even mountains.
