At-Táuba 9:34 ۞ يا ايها الذين امنوا ان كثيرا من الاحبار والرهبان لياكلون اموال الناس بالباطل ويصدون عن سبيل الله والذين يكنزون الذهب والفضة ولا ينفقونها في سبيل الله فبشرهم بعذاب اليم ٣٤

۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
ٱلَّذِينَ
ءَامَنُوٓاْ
إِنَّ
كَثِيرٗا
مِّنَ
ٱلۡأَحۡبَارِ
وَٱلرُّهۡبَانِ
لَيَأۡكُلُونَ
أَمۡوَٰلَ
ٱلنَّاسِ
بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ
وَيَصُدُّونَ
عَن
سَبِيلِ
ٱللَّهِۗ
وَٱلَّذِينَ
يَكۡنِزُونَ
ٱلذَّهَبَ
وَٱلۡفِضَّةَ
وَلَا
يُنفِقُونَهَا
فِي
سَبِيلِ
ٱللَّهِ
فَبَشِّرۡهُم
بِعَذَابٍ
أَلِيمٖ
٣٤
O believers! Indeed, many rabbis and monks consume people’s wealth wrongfully and hinder ˹others˺ from the Way of Allah. Give good news of a painful torment to those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in Allah’s cause.

O you who have believed, indeed many of the scholars and the monks devour the wealth of people unjustly1 and avert [them] from the way of Allāh. And those who hoard gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allāh - give them tidings of a painful punishment.

Warning against Corrupt Scholars and Misguided Worshippers
As-Suddi said that the Ahbar are Jewish rabbis, while the Ruhban are Christian monks. This statement is true, for Ahbar are Jewish rabbis, just as Allah said,
لَوْلاَ يَنْهَـهُمُ الرَّبَّـنِيُّونَ وَالاٌّحْبَارُ عَن قَوْلِهِمُ الإِثْمَ وَأَكْل
