In this Ayat, Allah is telling us what happens if we do not use His gifts appropriately. For example, Allah gave us legs to walk. If we choose to sit for long periods without walking, Allah may allow our legs to lose their ability to walk. Similarly, if we do not use our heart, hearing, and sight to contemplate and reflect upon the Quran, Allah may allow these faculties to lose their ability to understand the Quran. In the Quranic concept, the heart is located in the chest, as Allah described the hearts by saying: 'the hearts within the breasts' (Al-Hajj 46). However, the heart is not limited to the known muscle; the piece of flesh mentioned by the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم is only a representation of the heart at the physical level.
