وهو الذي يتوفاكم بالليل ويعلم ما جرحتم بالنهار ثم يبعثكم فيه ليقضى اجل مسمى ثم اليه مرجعكم ثم ينبيكم بما كنتم تعملون ٦٠
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى يَتَوَفَّىٰكُم بِٱلَّيْلِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا جَرَحْتُم بِٱلنَّهَارِ ثُمَّ يَبْعَثُكُمْ فِيهِ لِيُقْضَىٰٓ أَجَلٌۭ مُّسَمًّۭى ۖ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ٦٠

تَعۡمَلُوۡنَ

اور وہی ہے جو تمہیں وفات دیتا ہے رات کے وقت اور وہ جانتا ہے جو کچھ تم کرتے ہو دن کے وقت پھر وہ اس میں (اگلی صبح کو) تمہیں اٹھاتا ہے تاکہ (تمہاری) مدت معین پوری ہوجائے پھر اسی کی طرف تم سب کا لوٹنا ہے پھر وہ تمہیں جتلا دے گا جو کچھ تم کرتے رہے ہو

I came across this ayah today while I was reading the Quran and it had me thinking. Ultimately we will all experience death. It’s a given and that this is the only permanent truth we are certain of. Here Allah reveals how we actually do experience death on a daily basis. A light death in our sleep.

This verse oscillates between fear and hope. On one hand, Allah has likened sleep to death, and awakening to life. Allah SWT calls back our souls,
to the realm beyond our conscious reach.
Even the mightiest among us,
those who have power and influence over nations,
cannot defy this innate need for rest.
No fortress,
no wealth,
no earthly authority
can shield us
from the certainty of surrendering
to the divine decree each night.
Then, with each morning,

Every time you will read the Qur'an you will discover something new, something that will humble you or sometimes you will discover the such obvious but you have never stared it straight in the face until you reflect upon the Qur'an.
