Ramadan is a month of HOPE.

It's not only a turbo booster for faith, 
propelling us to new heights of devotion.

Ramadan is a reminder that 

Allah is Al-Ghafoor (the Ever-Forgiving) and Al-Ghaffar (the All-Forgiving), 
When Allah forgives, He not only pardons but also veils our sins from the sight of others.

Allah is also Al-Afuww (the Most Forgiving, the Eliminator of Sins) and At-Tawāb (the Acceptor of Repentance),
When Allah forgives and accepts our return to Him, He completely erases our transgressions, offering us a clean slate and a fresh beginning unburdened by the weight of past wrongdoings.

Ya Allah, 
You are Al-Ghafoor, Al-Ghaffar, Al-Afuww, and At-Tawāb. 
Forgive us our sins, 
both known and unknown,
 committed in the past and present. 
Grant us the strength to overcome our weaknesses 
and the wisdom to earnestly seek Your forgiveness. 
Shower Your boundless mercy upon us, 
envelop us in Your divine grace, 
and illuminate our path towards righteousness. 

Ya Allah, accept our repentance, 
cleanse our hearts, 
and bestow upon us a fresh start 
illuminated by Your divine light. 
Ameen.

A flaw that I have is that often times I overlook signs right infront of me , sometimes I come across so many great reminders that I just gloss over because the begining didn't 'hook' me in. And I truly believe this is a flaw in me. 

A young kid from my masjid was writing this hadith in the masjid and I looked at it and didn't pay much attention because it was written really fast. The handwriting was still better than mine (coming from a college student) 

But he was so passionate about it Masha Allah. He kept asking me to read it and check if it's sufficient for his assignment. I told everyone to pick a name of Allah and to find it in a verse of the Quran and present it in our next halaqa , so getting a hadith was not what I asked. But because he kept asking I told him to send me the Arabic and I'll check. 

And it hit me. 

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فِيمَا يَحْكِي عَنْ رَبِّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، قَالَ: ' أَذْنَبَ عَبْدٌ ذَنْبًا، فَقَالَ: اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي، فَقَالَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى: أَذْنَبَ عَبْدِي ذَنْبًا، فَعَلِمَ أَنَّ لَهُ رَبًّا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ، وَيَأْخُذُ بِالذَّنْبِ، ثُمَّ عَادَ فَأَذْنَبَ، فَقَالَ: أَيْ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي، فَقَالَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى: عَبْدِي أَذْنَبَ ذَنْبًا، فَعَلِمَ أَنَّ لَهُ رَبًّا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ، وَيَأْخُذُ بِالذَّنْبِ، ثُمَّ عَادَ فَأَذْنَبَ فَقَالَ: أَيْ رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي، فَقَالَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى: أَذْنَبَ عَبْدِي ذَنْبًا، فَعَلِمَ أَنَّ لَهُ رَبًّا يَغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ، وَيَأْخُذُ بِالذَّنْبِ، اعْمَلْ مَا شِئْتَ فَقَدْ غَفَرْتُ لَكَ '، قَالَ عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى: لَا أَدْرِي أَقَالَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ أَوِ الرَّابِعَةِ: 
«اعْمَلْ مَا شِئْتَ»،

Sometimes we learn so much from those younger than us, he's only 10 but I don't want to ever forget this hadith. The name he picked was الغفور 
So الغافر  and الغفار are all considered his assignment each with their little additions to the meaning, so I looked up my notes from 'His Majesty' 
الغافر Generally it means  The One who forgives , it is the base form
الغفور The One who forgives sin, no matter how big 
الغفّار The One who forgives sin, no matter how many. He keeps forgiving. 

Lastly, this is something I noticed in lectures when the speaker talks about sin and I may be wrong but the word ذنب is so humbling , almost as if it is always accompanied with regret الندم . 

Ya Rab open ahmed's heart to understand your names, and open my heart as well to understand your names, and open all those hearts that seek to understand your names. 

والله الأسماء الحسنى

غافر
 is the one who forgives no matter how big the sin.
غفّار
 is the one that forgives no matter how many sins.  
Each of these describe Allah and are mentioned once in the Quran. 

Perhaps it takes one true repentance to be forgiven of the biggest sins no matter how many times they have been committed.

يجمَع للمذنب التائب بين رحمتين: بين أن يقبل توبته فيجعلها له طاعة، وبين أن يمحو عنه بها الذنوب التي تاب منها وندِم على فعلها؛ فيصبحَ كأنه لم يفعلها، وهذا فضل من الله. ابن عاشور:24/80.

The expression: غَافِرِ‌ الذَّنبِ وَقَابِلِ التَّوْبِ (ghafiridh-dhanb) in verse 3: all literally means the one who puts a cover on sins (in the sense that they are no more seen or known by anyone), and: قَابِلِ التَّوْبِ (gabilit-tawb) means: He who accepts taubah or repentance. These two expressions appear separately, though the sense of both appears to be almost the same. The reason is that by saying: غَافِرِ‌ الذَّنبِ (ghafiridh-dhanb), the purpose is to indicate that Allah Ta’ ala does already possess the standing authority and power to forgive the sin of a servant even without taubah - while forgiving those who repent is yet another attribute of Allah. The word: طَول (tawl) which follows immediately in ذِي الطَّوْلِ (dhit-tawl) literally means vastness and being need-free. Then, it could also mean power or favor. (Mazhari

غَافِرِ الذَّنبِ وَقَابِلِ التَّوْبِ

The Forgiver of sin, the Acceptor of repentance,

means, He forgives sins that have been committed in the past, and He accepts repentance for sins that may be committed in the future, from the one who repents and submits to Him.

شَدِيدِ الْعِقَابِ

the Severe in punishment,
means, to the one who persists in transgression and prefers the life of this world, who stubbornly turns away from the commands of Allah and commits sin.
This is like the Ayah:
نَبِّىءْ عِبَادِى أَنِّى أَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ
وَأَنَّ عَذَابِى هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الاٌّلِيمُ
Declare unto My servants that truly I am the Oft-Forgiving, the Most-Merciful. And that My torment is indeed the most painful. (15:49-50)
These two attributes (mercy and punishment) are often mentioned together in the Qur'an so that people will remain in a state of both hope and fear.
ذِي الطَّوْلِ
the Bestower.
Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, said,
'This means He is Generous and Rich (Independent of means).'
The meaning is that He is Most Generous to His servants, granting ongoing blessings for which they can never sufficiently thank Him.
وَإِن تَعُدُّواْ نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَا
And if you would count the favors of Allah, never could you be able to count them... (16:18)
لَاا إِلَهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ
La ilaha illa Huwa,
means, none is equal to Him in all His attributes; there is no God or Lord besides Him.
إِلَيْهِ الْمَصِيرُ
to Him is the final return.

means, all things will come back to Him and He will reward or punish each person according to his deeds.

وَهُوَ سَرِيعُ الْحِسَابِ

and He is Swift at reckoning. (13:41)

Imagine your daughter is slandered of the worst of crimes imaginable and rumours spread all across the community. You then find out one of the major protagonists is your close relative who you have been financially providing for, for many years. Can you even begin to imagine the pain and enraged anger you would feel? 

This is what Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) faced. He understandably swore an oath to stop spending on Mistah, due to his joining in the slander against Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). Allah then revealed this verse which included: 

'let them forgive and overlook, do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.'

SubhanAllah! This type of beautiful tarbiyah is the foundation to the sahaba then going onto build the most illustrious and thriving civilisation human kind has seen. 

May Allah make us of those to whom forgiving and overlooking others mistakes come easy. May Allah make us of those who quickly focus on reflecting on our own mistakes when faced with others' mistakes. May Allah forgive our mistakes and sins, and wipe them clean from our books.
