I was listening to a talk on parenting today and the speaker suggested saying this dua before speaking to your children. I'm not sure why that has never occurred to me before! In an age where kids prefer to listen to their peers over their parents, what a great tip that has the potential to completely transform the effectiveness of our conversations.

AmritS  In this dua we are saying that Allah is far from imperfections .. so it helps me that whatever &amp; whom ever that s present in my life has a purpose and they may be teaching me something or they are a means for me to get ajr / reward . In the last part of dua I am the one who did wrong so this part helps me if I didn’t do things at excellent level/ ihsan level then I am seeking forgiveness. 

One reflection that I've had is that in making a dua, the main goal of it is actually to strengthen our relationship with Allah in doing so, and the particular thing that we are asking for is secondary.


For indeed, if our relationship with Allah is good, then the ease, help, and the resources that we are asking for in order to handle our situation will automatically come to us through Allah's mercy and in the way that He wills.


It's the connection or the relationship between us and Allah that matters the most. And dua, at its core, I believe, is a relationship building act; it goes beyond just supplicating and getting what we want.


Maybe that is why, in all the duas of the Prophets (peace be upon them) that are mentioned in the Quran, we see how much respect, humility, and adab (manners) they show every time they communicate their needs and feelings to Allah SWT. Even when they are in difficulty, they don't complain to Allah, but rather they use gentle words and they start to glorify Allah even more.


Also, it's probably not a coincidence that there are at least 40 duas in the Quran that start with the name 'Rabb' ('Lord'). This word, if it is internalized properly, makes us realize what our relationship is with Allah: He is our Master, and we are His slaves. He is both extremely loving and caring and, at the same time, He has power and authority over all things.


It is not the word 'Rabb' itself that makes a difference, but it is truly knowing what it means and therefore making Allah SWT the greatest thing in our hearts, and then putting our full trust in Him. And all that, ultimately, creates a relationship between Him and us.


And then we turn to Him in a state of neediness and brokenness, but also with love and gratitude towards Him - because He is our Rabb.

Alhamdulilah 

I just wanted to conclude my thoughts on sharing reflections connected to my mother الله يرحمها 

In the end , the task is very difficult and perhaps one could spend their whole life mourning , so the strength has to come from Allah to be able to move forward.

That’s what I learn from Musa A.S from this dua. 

There was always this sense of safety with my mother, that I knew she was making dua for me. Or that I could go to her and talk about my worries. The mother never abandons her children even when she is upset. 

There’s this story that my mother الله يرحمها use to tell me , I’m not sure if it’s true  but the meaning behind it has finally caught up with me. 

'It was said that Musa A.S use to climb up mountains with very haste as he was very strong and skilled. But one day he heard a voice saying oh Musa thread carefully , your mother has passed away. You use to climb up so fast because your mother was always making dua for you. Now she has passed'

My mother use to constantly recite ayah tul Kursi and other ayaat and suwar for our protection. 

Subhan Allah 

One thing that I reflected on a lot is that Allah is still here and He loves us more than our mother, There is no one who can provide for us except Allah SWT.

Hi, would you be able to share the source of this please?

Imagine today if someone sent you to Xi Xinping to call him to the truth. You'd scoff, yeah? Xi Xinping, one of our many tyrant oppressors in this world, who is persecuting millions of muslim uyghurs at varying levels in internment camps, etc. Is doing something very similar to Pharaoh, like taking away the men from families etc. 

So we have this man committing terrible atrocities, and someone tells you to stand before him and call him to the truth. Pssh, yeah right. Come on man this guy is a killer! 

But you decide to go through with it, and they mockingly accept your invitation. Xi receives you in his daunting courtroom. Now make your case. Make your case to the truth. How is it that You'd call him to the truth in a beautiful way, with sincerity and strength? How is it You'd overcome your nerves? We should learn from Musa.. his stories always blow my mind..

Yea!! And How Musa (A.S)  was able to present his case before Pharoah was actually this dua getting answered... In Surah Shu'arah, Verse 23 onwards... Blows your mind!!!❤

I have a Muslim convert friend whose family keeps telling her she is confused and brainwashed and that Muslims worship a moon God. 

One time I met with a teen and her mother for a school project. The mother told me she had done some research about Islam online already. I asked her what she had learned. She said 'Well I learned that you all worship Muhammad'

A coworker once asked me 'So tell me this, Is Barack Obama black or is he a Muslim?'

A couple of people have asked me 'So what is the difference between Islam and Muslim?'

There's just so much that people don't know about Islam that it feels overwhelming. The clock is ticking and we are here as a very small minority of people who have the gift of guidance. How much time have we already wasted keeping the truth hidden from others. It feels like a very heavy responsibility to represent and share the message of Islam to those around us, but we are paralyzed in so many ways. It's painful to know that we carry the solution to so many of the problems of our brothers and sisters in humanity and that we go through life not conveying the solution in a clear manner. I have so many relatives to whom I have not conveyed the message of Islam to in my 13 years as a Muslim. I tell myself that I need to represent Islam through good actions with the hopes that they will somehow see that Islam is a source of goodness. I question my silence in the grand scheme of things. I imagine how horrible it would be to have all of these people - my relatives, my neighbors, my aquaintances, etc coming to me, distraught, on the day of judgement asking me why I didn't tell them the truth. Why I just politely walked by and smiled and didn't bother to tell them the source of my smile. I wonder if 'I was worried you might think I'm being too pushy' or 'I was worried that you might think I'm trying to convert you' or 'I didn't want to offend you' or 'I assumed you wouldn't be open to it' will be good enough on such a day... I pray that we are never faced with those questions. 
May Allah forgive us and may He give us the best of speech and open the hearts of those who we speak to about Islam. May everyone who we interact with only see the good in us and may they attribute that goodness to Islam. 

O Allah, do not hold us accountable for our shortcomings in conveying the message. Multiply our efforts so that even our weakest attempts to show the goodness of Islam would have the same impact as the best forms of dawah. Give us your Noor and make the  Noor you give us a sufficient replacement for the weakness of our words in conveying the truth. Ameen.


These verses embody for me a beautiful conversation between Allah (SwT) and Prophet Musa peace be upon him, whereas Allah asks Musa about his stick before asking him to throw it away. 

He (SwT) in His majesty, connected with Musa before giving him a command, asking him about his stick and why it matters to him. 

And prophet Musa responds as if he is speaking with a close friend (and to Allah belongs the utmost example of perfection). 

Once Allah asks Musa to throw this stick, Musa throws it instantly although it has several uses for him. He didn't question Allah, asking why Allah ? And Allah showed Him His signs and returned it to Him.

Sometimes we are led to 'drop' certain things in our lives or they are removed from our lives - whether they be people, places, opportunities, health, wealth, etc. And sometimes that removal is temporary so Allah can show us His signs and return them to us when are ready to hold them again, and sometimes they are replaced with that which is better, in His Infinite Wisdom. 

Musa's stick was a tool and Musa trusted Allah when he was asked to throw it because He had a strong relationship with Allah.  The tool is temporary but the bond of trust between Him and Allah is eternal.

And once again Musa embodies this trust when Allah asks him to go to the Pharoah. With such a great task ahead, Musa doesn't question Allah, or say to Allah I am not the right person for the job ! He first asks Allah to uplift his heart, make his task easy and remove the impediment from his speech - which are all his personal resources. Then he asks Allah for external help too - to send His brother with him so he can help him and so they can Glorify and thank Allah often.  The key here wasn't just accomplishing the mission of going to the Pharoah but of also remembering and glorifying Allah often.

We can learn from this that when we have a difficult task ahead of us we can also make the dua prophet Musa made asking Allah for internal help and also ask for the external help we need. 

If you find yourself with a difficult task ahead, trust Allah can provide the tools you need to achieve it with His will or make a way out for you.  Ask of Him what you need. 

He's always been and always will watch over us, like he did with Prophet Musa.

I find myself saying this everytime I have to talk in public or when I have to talk to someone very important, or even before making a very important dua , before talking to the The Most Important Being. Allah swt. 

The expansion of the heart is what Musa A.S asks for first , because if our hearts aren't open to understanding who we are talking to, how can we convey what we feel? , what we want? 

The person with ears and hearing may not be able to hear what you are saying but the person with expansion of the heart will understand, that's for the people but 
Allah swt always understands, the sinner and the righteous.

Then Musa A.S asks Allah to strengthen his speech so the pharaoh and his family can understand his message. 


Back to making dua, if we don't ask Allah to open our hearts to understand who Allah is and what He swt wants from us how can we obey Him, 
how can we accept whatever He decides for us? 
how can the righteous path, become easy for us? 

It's amazing Allah expands whosever hearts He wishes and then it is He who allows them to ask Him for expansion of the heart.

All matters return back to Allah, so why can't we?

'Imagine knowing exactly what you want to say, but the words come out slurred, soft, or rushed — as if your voice is betraying you. People ask you to repeat . Speaking becomes exhausting, a chore rather than a connection. Over time, you stop speaking up at all.'.

Slurred speech, or dysarthria, is a common and often distressing symptom in Parkinsonism,. The struggle with speech affects not only communication but also self-esteem, social interaction, and quality of life

Surah Taha is not just the story of a Prophet It’s a story of fear, courage, calling, and divine support — especially in the way Prophet Musa struggled with speech.
I love this Surah since some years and whenever I read it gives me a new message and the mysteries inside are unexplainable 
I was reading it in the Fajar time today and this beautiful Dua which I read it several times before, gave me a new hope Alhamdulillah.
I was bursts into tears. 

 This Dua wasn’t just about speaking clearly. It was about:

Opening the heart (courage, clarity, purpose)

Asking for ease (reducing anxiety, removing resistance)

Being understood (true connection, not just language)

Allah swt loves us so much and guiding us in different ways.
May Allah help us all and make us among those who love Quran 

O Allah, benefit me with what You have taught me, teach me what will benefit me, and increase me in knowledge.
Ameen.

What does it mean to truly trust Allah in the face of fear and adversity?

Pharaoh is introduced in the Quran as someone who elevated himself to absolute power, declaring, 'I am your lord, the most high' (79:24). He divided people with fear and dependency, tormenting their sense of self and community (28:4). Under such a system, survival meant submission, and over time, submission became a reflex. 

When fear becomes constant, it rewires the mind. Resistance no longer feels like an option; obedience feels like safety. This is how Pharaoh’s power penetrated deeper than laws—he ruled minds, shaping thoughts and silencing questions before they could surface.

For Musa (AS), standing before Pharaoh meant more than confronting a tyrant. It was a psychological battle—facing the person who had raised him, whose presence meant both fear and familiarity. Confronting Pharaoh meant letting go of the beliefs he learned while growing up in the palace, and realizing that he didn’t have to accept Pharaoh’s authority as absolute. Even Musa’s initial hesitation—my chest feels tight, and my tongue is not fluent (20:25-28)—reflects how deeply the pressure affected him. 

Pharaoh’s power relied on illusion—making others believe he was invincible. Musa (AS) had to stand in front of that illusion and say—you are not what you claim to be. Allah reminded him, 'Fear not, I am with you, hearing and seeing' (20:46), strengthing Musa’s heart beyond the visible power of the king to the invisible presence of Allah. 

On a personal level, this story teaches that fear is a part of the human experience. It shows us that courage isn’t about eliminating fear but learning to act through it. Pharaoh’s world was one where external power dictated reality, but Musa (AS) teaches us that freedom begins when we refuse to let fear define our choices. 

Each of us faces moments where fear, anxiety, or self-doubt feel overwhelming, paralyzing our ability to act. In all those moments, faith grounds us that we are not alone, even when everything external tells us otherwise. It’s a shift in perspective—from seeing power as something others hold over us to recognizing that strength comes from trusting Allah’s presence and plan.

That is where true freedom is found—when we rely not on what we see, but on the One who sees us.

I used to only make this dua when I was going to interact with non-Muslim family members or if I was attending some sort of dawah event at the masjid. 

One time an elderly Christian man started a religous conversation with me at the grocery store and I was wishing there was a way to pause time so I could make this dua before speaking to him.

This dua is actually a huge gift for believers living in non-Muslim lands. Since we know that actions are judged by their intentions and that we can gain more good deeds if we have good intentions, it's a great idea to add this to your dua list every time you are leaving your home. 

After reciting this dua, take a few moments to reflect on it while you are driving or walking to wherever you need to go.

'My Lord! Uplift my heart for me'
Think about how we need Allah to keep our hearts uplifted, motivated, inspired, and free from anxiety. This gets us in the right mindset and we remember the importance of being a positive force in a society filled with despair and hopelessness. 

'and make my task easy'
The task is dawah. Sometimes we want to shout the message of Islam from the rooftops, but we just keep walking quietly down the street. We feel guilty for not doing enough because we know that practicing Muslims are such a small percentage of the population and that we need to carry this message to those who have not heard it.

When we make this part of the dua, we can think about how we want Allah to open up opportunities to have fruitful conversations with people about Islam. We want Allah to make the task of doing dawah easy for us. Allah can do anything. 

'and remove the impediment from my tongue'
What is our impediment? We sometimes jumble our words or we don't say certain things either as boldly or as politely as we should in order to be effective. Or we don't say anything at all. We all have our own personal impediments and we ask Allah to remove them. 

'so people may understand my speech'
Think about how we are asking Allah to make our simple words  penetrate the hearts of the people we interact with. Sometimes our words may not even be direct, but we speak them with the intention of representing Islam in a good way. Think about how we need Allah to bless our words with effectiveness in order to be successful. Even an eloquent speech by a genius can have zero impact on the hearts if it is not blessed by Allah, while a few humble words of a sincere person can be extremely effective if they carry the weight of Allah's blessings.

From time to time, we hear stories about someones life completely changing after hearing or reading a few simple words.
Even if they heard that same message many times before, sometimes it's just hearing it at the right place, from the right person, at the right time that can have a huge impact. Never underestimate Allah's ability to bless your words with effectiveness and never belittle any good deeds you can do, even if it is a few polite words.

So every time you leave the house, you can make this dua, and with renewed intentions, you can transform your simple trip to the store, the post office, your walk to school, a stroll in the neighborhood, etc into an act of worship with this short dua and a little bit of mindfulness, inshaAllah. 

May Allah reward us for our good intentions, bless our humble efforts, forgive us for our shortcomings, and make us successful in this life and the next. May Allah guide us and make us a guide for others. Ameen.
