Dawah is not about results, it is about fulfilling our responsibility of propagating and conveying the message. 

Often we may face setbacks or grow increasingly frustrated at the fact that our voices are not being heard when we advocate for  the truth, for justice and morality. We may feel that our efforts are not yielding any results, and that we may never ever get to see the change or the victory which we yearn for. 

Calling towards the truth does not mean that you will see victory or change we desire to see in this life. 

Allah repeatedly clarifies that the mission of the Prophet (peace be upon him) is to convey the message,  not to be concerned with the results: 

(1) 'And whether We show you part of what We promise them, or We cause you to die [before it], your duty is only to convey, and upon Us is the reckoning.' (Surah Ar-Ra’d, 40)

(2) 'So be patient. Indeed, the promise of Allah is true. And whether We show you some of what We have promised them or We cause you to die — to Us will they be returned.' (Surah Ghafir, 77)

This recurring phrase in the Qur’an- {فَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ... أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ}   ('Whether We show you… or We cause you to die'),  invites deep contemplation.Even after all the harm, denial, arrogance, and war the Prophet (peace be upon him) faced, Allah tells him: 'You are only responsible for doing your duty. Do not be attached to the results.'

Even witnessing Allah’s punishment upon the arrogant perpetrators of injustice and disbelievers was not something for him to long for. His task was to act and move on. The matter is not his. The mission is not his. The entire affair belongs to Allah , and Allah does with it as He wills. 

We may never get to see the full scale impact of our efforts in Dawah or in advocating for a just world. That is in the hands of Allah and out of our hands. What lies within our reach though, is the duty to convey and to remind, and to do so sincerely and continuously as the Prophets did (peace be upon them).

This post speaks to me. Much needed! May Allah reward you with good for sharing it with us, sheikh. Aameen. 

Muslims are facing various challenges and conflicts around the world. It is natural to desire to see positive outcomes in these battles as soon as possible. We hope that those spreading disinformation experience the consequences of their actions. We wish for accountability for the Western establishments that support and enable acts of genocide. We hope that the oppressive forces responsible for inflicting suffering and ethnic cleansing upon Muslim populations face justice. We also desire that media outlets promoting false narratives and disinformation face a decline in influence. These wishes reflect the concerns of the oppressed and their allies. However, Allah reminds Prophet SAW (and by extension us) in these verses that the fulfilment of His promises with the enemies may not happen before our deaths. In the next verse, Allah reassures the Prophet about the comfort in witnessing the diminishing power of disbelievers as their lands get sliced off from the sides. Examining the current situation, it may appear to be the opposite. Yet, we find solace in the fact that the perpetrators are badly losing the information war, with more people becoming curious about and embracing Islam despite false narratives. Surveys indicate that the younger generation overwhelmingly supports Palestine despite the money and efforts pumped in by Western establishments. Allah may or may not manifest all His promised consequences for the wrongdoers in this life before our death. Our responsibility is to convey the *message* - combat disinformation, advocate for justice, raise awareness about historical context, exert pressure on politicians where possible and the best *message* we can all convey is by being the best versions of ourselves. The ultimate judgement rests with Allah, and we hope to witness justice in our lifetimes but it is an absolute certainty after we die and in the Hereafter.

Your reflection is reassuring, at a time where our collective iman is being tested, that there will be ultimate justice, if not in this life then most certainly in the hereafter. May Allah reward you in abundance and may Allah grant justice and freedom to our brothers and sisters in Palestine and to all those suffering. Amen 

Subhan'Allah! This ayah resonates deeply with me, especially whenever I seek change in my life and within myself. Recently, I had the privilege of attending MAS CON LA for the first time, Alhamdulillah! During the event, one of the speakers highlighted this verse, reminding me of my journey when I first converted to Islam. Back then, I worked to build new habits and let go of old ones. Of course, these changes didn’t happen overnight—it took many mistakes, persistence, and self-agency to believe in myself.

This ayah serves as a powerful reminder: while the outcomes are always in Allah’s سبحانه وتعالى hands, we are also called to believe in ourselves, in each other, and in the strength of the ummah. This belief is crucial for building the resilience we need to navigate this life and prepare for the hereafter, insha'Allah.

Today, as I reflect, I am reminded that tomorrow offers another chance to do more—to find clarity, rally courage, and take collective action to stand for what we believe in. It is our responsibility to strive for meaningful change, including seeking positions of influence to mobilize policies that benefit our ummah. Most importantly, it's not about how we start but how we end—with hope in the mercy and guidance that Allah سبحانه وتعالى has given us.

Day 13, Question 13, #AyahLookup ​ Challenge:

A very interesting observation, and a very different challenge from previous days:
Surat Al Raa'd is the 'Surah of pairs and opposites'.
What does that mean? 

The Surah mentions many pairs, that are opposites to each other, (e.g. the day and the night)
and last time I counted, there was around 34 of them! 
34 pairs in a relatively short surah... 
There should be some amazing clues and gems that are hidden for us, 
What are the Ayahs that mention such pairs?
What is a reflection you can share on these ayahs?
What are bigger lessons and implications that we can learn from these pairs about Allah? about this dunia? and about ourselves?

Thunder strikes fear in the heart of people. Its deep rumbling wakes up sleepers and makes children cry. 
Yet this verse teaches us that there is a difference between perception and reality. It may be a terrifying sound, but it is truly tasbeeh, praise of God, something beautiful and heavenly.  
Similarly, the sky may be clear and things appear safe, but something strikes suddenly from the sky, shattering the normalcy. 
Like many things on earth, things are not always as we perceive.
