كَلَّآ إِنَّهُۥ تَذْكِرَةٌ

The Quran is a Reminder.For whom? For us. Why? Because we always forget. We forget about the deceitfulness of this world, we forget about the Hereafter that is surely coming. But isn't it strange? When Allah says that the Quran is a “tazkirah”, a reminder, we think that just reading it is enough. When we complete a recitation(khatam), we celebrate, hold feasts, take pictures together. But have we ever thought about it? We should actually feel sad, because much of what we read, we don’t understand. We don’t practice it.

We’ve got it all backwards. The Quran should make us cry, but instead, we turn it into an event. We take pride in how many times we’ve completed it, but we don’t think about how much we’ve actually implemented. We feel satisfied just by reading, but we don't feel guilty when we ignore Allah’s prohibitions.

We need to fix this wrong mindset. We think that once we’ve completed the Quran, our responsibility is over. But in reality, that’s when our responsibility begins. The Quran is not meant to be rushed through for completion, but to be translated into our daily lives. If we just read without understanding and without trying to change, what’s the point?

Have you ever seen people who go to the mosque regularly but still hurt others? People who pray every day but can’t stop gossiping? Hurting their neighbors, harboring envy and suspicion, cheating others in business dealings? Why does this happen? Isn't all of this prohibited in the Quran? Then why do people still do it? Because they don’t understand what they’re reading.

That’s why Allah sent down the Quran as a reminder, not just for us to accumulate rewards from its recitation. If we read without understanding and applying it, the reminder won’t reach our hearts. It's just like when someone gives us advice, we listen but don’t act on it. What’s the benefit then?

But Allah has already mentioned in the next verse: "And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills. He is the One deserving of fear and the One who grants forgiveness." (Al-Muddathir: 55-56)

Not everyone will take heed of this reminder. Only those who truly desire it, who are aware and strive to understand, will receive Allah's guidance. If the heart refuses to accept it, no matter how much a person reads, it will remain the same. That’s why we see people who have memorized the Quran, who read it daily, yet their character doesn’t change—because they read it as a routine, not as a means to transform themselves.

We need to change our mindset. Don’t just chase after completion; chase after understanding. Don’t just seek blessings in ceremonies; seek blessings in daily actions. Don’t wait for completion events to feel close to the Quran; make it your daily companion. Allah has given us the ‘manual.’ It’s up to us whether we want to use it properly or not. Do we want to continue this wrong culture, or do we want to change and take the Quran as the true guide in our lives? Wallahualam!

Enough! Surely this ˹Quran˺ is a reminder.

In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,

When we perform an exam, it is essential we study the correct text book. It is also necessary that we read through the guidance notes. This allows the student to perform much better giving them a good chance for success.

The exam of life is similar but different, the Qur’an and Sunnah are the texts and example that we require, but the worldly exam is an open book exam and we ask the Creator for His continuous Guidance and for His help with applying and internalising the messages contained in the Qur’an and Sunnah. 

This can never be done by ourselves. We are always in need and we should always be in a state of humility before our Examiner - Our Lord. The more guidance we receive, this should only entail more fear and love for Allah. 

Asking Allaah in every unit of prayer for Guidance and His help is such an important need for the taker of this worldly exam. May we never be without His Guidance.. May I truly fear Him and love Him both in public and private - Ameen ya rabb.

But they cannot do so unless Allah wills. He ˹alone˺ is worthy to be feared and entitled to forgive.

RAMADHAN WILL LEAVE US BUT MAY WE NEVER  LEAVE RAMADHAN
Let those who worship Ramadhan know that Ramadhan will leave  
But  for those who worship Allah, they know that Allah is The Ever-Living.

JUZ 29 closes Ramadhan with the call for da'wah.
Juz 29 gives a checklist on how to spread The Quran as "Hudan linnaas"; a Guide for all humanity.

Al Mulk : is reiterating our responsibility to spread the Quran far and wide, even with one ayah.
Al Qalam ayat 14 : tells us that da'wah with the best actions emanating from the best akhlak is way better than a thousand words.
Al Haqqah ayat 44-47 : deals with the integrity of person doing da'wah (da’ie) and the content of the da'wah
Nuh : inspiring the high standard for patience in da'wah
Al Jin : puts the stress on sound knowledge and good listening skills to have maximum input for da'wah
Al Muzzammil : stresses on the night worship when the Quran hits the heart of the da'ie before he goes out to touch others’ hearts 
Al Muddaththir : talks of character building for the da'ie to be out of his comfort zone and to avoid bad character
Al Qiyamah : pushes for the commitment to learn from teachers and to source  expert transmission of knowledge (talaqqi) from a mentor
Al Insan : tells us of the ultimate motivation for the da'ie is his eventual meeting with Allah SWT in the paradise of Zanjabila where Allah SWT will appreciate him for his services
Al-Mursalat Ayat 4-5 : likens the da'ie to  raindrops that fall slowly and gently rejuvenating the dead earth

Barakallaahu fikum.

Had the Messenger made up something in Our Name,

We would have certainly seized him by his right hand,

and none of you could have shielded him ˹from Us˺!
