These two verses, just remind me of how valuable time is.
Time that is lost cannot be regained. It moves on with, or without us.
This Dunya is just a temporary stay, it will only have felt like we stayed no more than an hour on this Earth.

Truth is the backbone of the Muslim.
Truth is contained within the word Haqq. Allah commands us at various moments in the Quran to establish the Haqq on this Earth. (see: Al-Asr)
This ayah made me visualize putting the truth in a heavy, impactful ball. And then throwing it at the weak, crumbled wooden shack that is falsehood.
But what is the ball of truth? The very next verse:
وَلَهُۥ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَنۡ عِندَهُۥ لَا يَس...Lihat lebih dari yang ini

While I think that people are naturally and instinctively good, I feel like we continuously default to our weaknesses such as greed, jealousy, anger, arrogance, self-righteousness ...etc. Therefore we always need to renew our belief in Allah, strive to be good, remind one another of truth and being patient. Otherwise, we will be a loss as surat al-asr states.

Am I losing time?
'If I read and reflect upon the Quran right now, I might run out of time to do the other things I need to do today'
'If I wake up to pray tahajjud, I'll lose out on the time I need to sleep'

Ustadz Nouman Ali Khan likened this surah to waking up a person who is not only drowning but unconscious while being tied to his unconscious family and friends! Amongst many other ayahs and surahs, this is the ultimate wake up call for me. The animated video of this surah is on constant play mode in my head.
