فاعرض عن من تولى عن ذكرنا ولم يرد الا الحياة الدنيا ٢٩
فَأَعْرِضْ عَن مَّن تَوَلَّىٰ عَن ذِكْرِنَا وَلَمْ يُرِدْ إِلَّا ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنْيَا ٢٩

When I remember my university days, my heart still feels heavy. At that time, I thought freedom meant living without limits. Most of my close friends were openly disobeying Allah. For them, religion was nothing more than a few rituals. Religious rules felt unnecessary or even annoying to them. They believed their own intellect was enough to decide what was right and wrong. Prayer and fasting were far from their lives.

بعد أن وصف مداركهم الباطلة وضلالهم فَرَّع عليه أمرَ نبيه بالإِعراض عنهم؛ ذلك لأن ما تقدم من وصف ضلالهم كان نتيجة إعراضهم عن ذكر الله -وهو التولّي عن الذكر-؛ فحق أن يكون جزاؤهم عن ذلك الإِعراض إعراضًا عنهم. ابن عاشور:27/ 116- 117.
