{ فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ } أي: العذاب { عَارِضًا مُسْتَقْبِلَ أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ } أي: معترضا كالسحاب قد أقبل على أوديتهم التي تسيل فتسقي نوابتهم ويشربون من آبارها وغدرانها.{ قَالُوا } مستبشرين: { هَذَا عَارِضٌ مُمْطِرُنَا } أي: هذا السحاب سيمطرنا.قال تعالى:{ بَلْ هُوَ مَا اسْتَعْجَلْتُمْ بِهِ } أي: هذا الذي جنيتم به على أنفسكم حيث قلتم: { فَأْتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ }{ رِيحٌ فِيهَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ }
He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
