قال لا ياتيكما طعام ترزقانه الا نباتكما بتاويله قبل ان ياتيكما ذالكما مما علمني ربي اني تركت ملة قوم لا يومنون بالله وهم بالاخرة هم كافرون ٣٧
قَالَ لَا يَأْتِيكُمَا طَعَامٌۭ تُرْزَقَانِهِۦٓ إِلَّا نَبَّأْتُكُمَا بِتَأْوِيلِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمَا ۚ ذَٰلِكُمَا مِمَّا عَلَّمَنِى رَبِّىٓ ۚ إِنِّى تَرَكْتُ مِلَّةَ قَوْمٍۢ لَّا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَهُم بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ هُمْ كَـٰفِرُونَ ٣٧
قَالَ

إِلَّا
نَبَّأۡتُكُمَا
بِتَأۡوِيلِهِۦ
قَبۡلَ
أَن
يَأۡتِيَكُمَاۚ
ذَٰلِكُمَا
مِمَّا
عَلَّمَنِي
رَبِّيٓۚ
إِنِّي
تَرَكۡتُ
مِلَّةَ
قَوۡمٖ
لَّا
يُؤۡمِنُونَ
بِٱللَّهِ
وَهُم
بِٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ
هُمۡ
كَٰفِرُونَ
٣٧
"La nourriture qui vous est attribuée ne vous parviendra point, dit-il, que je ne vous aie avisés de son interprétation (de votre nourriture) avant qu’elle ne vous arrive. Cela fait partie de ce que mon Seigneur m’a enseigné. Certes, j’ai abandonné la religion d’un peuple qui ne croit pas en Allah et qui nie la vie future." 1

Amazing how the righteous when Allah blesses them with worldly talents use it to bring others closer to Allah, as Dhul qarnain did with his skill of building dams and Yousef did with his ability to interpret dreams or Solomon and his power and kingdom which Allah blessed him with. These blessings made them more humble to Allah and attributed it to him unlike the arrogant who attribute it to themself like Qaroon

من فطنة يوسف -عليه السلام- أنه لمَّا رأى فيهما قابلية لدعوته -حيث ظنّا فيه الظن الحسن، وقالا له: (إنا نراك من المحسنين)، وأتياه لأن يعبر لهما رؤياهما، فرآهما متشوفين لتعبيرها عنده- رأى ذلك فرصة؛ فانتهزها، فدعاهما إلى الله تعالى قبل أن يعبّر رؤياهما. السعدي:410.

Yusuf makes a declaration of cutting himself from a group of people who donot believe in Allah.
After disassociating from this group, I would question: Who am I a part of? Who do I follow? This is answered in the next ayah where he says, 'I follow the faith of my fathers: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob'.
وَٱتَّبَعْتُ مِلَّةَ ءَابَآءِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ
This is also my identity 'مِّلَّةَ أَبِيكُمْ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ'.

This chapter reminds us that hardship come first and it is described through problems that Yusuf had from a young age. He was betrayed by his brother and separated from his dad, dumped in a well and found by slave-merchants, sold as a slave, and he was accused of adultery king's wife.
