يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَا ٱلْخَمْرُ وَٱلْمَيْسِرُ وَٱلْأَنصَابُ وَٱلْأَزْلَـٰمُ رِجْسٌۭ مِّنْ عَمَلِ ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ فَٱجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ ٩٠
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا
ٱلَّذِينَ
ءَامَنُوٓاْ
إِنَّمَا
ٱلۡخَمۡرُ
وَٱلۡمَيۡسِرُ
وَٱلۡأَنصَابُ
وَٱلۡأَزۡلَٰمُ
رِجۡسٞ
مِّنۡ
عَمَلِ
ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ
فَٱجۡتَنِبُوهُ
لَعَلَّكُمۡ
تُفۡلِحُونَ
٩٠
¡Oh, creyentes! Los embriagantes, las apuestas, los altares [sobre los cuales eran degollados los animales como ofrenda para los ídolos] y consultar la suerte [por ejemplo] con flechas, son una obra inmunda del demonio. Aléjense de todo ello, que así tendrán éxito [en esta vida y en la próxima].

I just read something that mentioned how Allah went slow on forbidding wine. It wasn't an immediate command to not drink wine, in surah Baqarah, Allah mentions the harm that alcohol causes but he didn't say anything else. Then in surah Nisa, Allah says not to approach prayer when in a state of intoxication. Then, in surah Ma'idah, He finally says to avoid it. میں نے اس آیت کو برسوں احکام کے طور پر پڑھا۔ آج پہلی بار اسے انسان کی حفاظت کے طور پر دیکھ رہی ہوں۔
میرے شوہر کے ایک قریبی رشتہ دار ہیں۔ آج قریب پندرہ سولہ سال بعد ان سے ملاقات ہوئی۔ میرے شوہر اور انہوں نے میٹرک اکٹھے پاس کیا تھا۔ بعد ازاں ان رشتہ دار نے پڑھائی جاری رکھی اور کالج تک پہنچے۔ وہیں بری صحبت کے زیرِ اثر منشیات کی لت لگ گئی۔

SubhanAllah intoxicants, gambling, idols, drawing lots affect and hinder our ability for conscious decision making, which is needed if you were to ever be successful. Almost every Surah except surah At Tawbah we are reminded of these attributes of Allah SWT. Allah Almighty has chosen to reveal many of His attributes to us, but these two we are reminded about the most.
