ذَٰلِكَ

بِأَنَّهُمۡ

كَانَت

تَّأۡتِيهِمۡ

رُسُلُهُم

بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ

فَكَفَرُواْ

فَأَخَذَهُمُ

ٱللَّهُۚ

إِنَّهُۥ

قَوِيّٞ

شَدِيدُ

ٱلۡعِقَابِ

That was because their messengers used to come to them with clear proofs, but they persisted in disbelief. So Allah seized them. Surely He is All-Powerful, severe in punishment.
