These two verses, just remind me of how valuable time is.

Time that is lost cannot be regained. It moves on with, or without us.

This Dunya is just a temporary stay, it will only have felt like we stayed no more than an hour on this Earth.

Sometimes, there are times in my day where I don't have anything planned out, so I just go scrolling on Youtube wasting my time. I then reflect on these moments realizing I could've done something like D...

Truth is the backbone of the Muslim.

Truth is contained within the word Haqq. Allah commands us at various moments in the Quran to establish the Haqq on this Earth. (see: Al-Asr)

This ayah made me visualize putting the truth in a heavy, impactful ball. And then throwing it at the weak, crumbled wooden shack that is falsehood.

But what is the ball of truth? The very next verse:

وَلَهُۥ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ وَمَنۡ عِندَهُۥ لَا يَس...

Every second brings us closer to the end of our lives. If we don't use our time well, we'll face serious consequences. To succeed, we have to work hard, but failure comes without us even trying. It's like a story about a man who learned a lesson from an ice seller in the market. The ice was melting, and the seller asked for mercy. This made the man realize that time passes quickly, just like the ice melts away. If we waste our time or do bad thin...See more

While I think that people are naturally and instinctively good, I feel like we continuously default to our weaknesses such as greed, jealousy, anger, arrogance, self-righteousness ...etc. Therefore we always need to renew our belief in Allah, strive to be good, remind one another of truth and being patient. Otherwise, we will be a loss as surat al-asr states.

What's beautiful about Allah's choice of words, is how a 'Al-Insan' 'Human being' is m...

Am I losing time?

'If I read and reflect upon the Quran right now, I might run out of time to do the other things I need to do today'

'If I wake up to pray tahajjud, I'll lose out on the time I need to sleep'

'If I give advice to this person going through difficulty, it will take a lot of time and I won't be able to do the other things I want to do right now'

'Sharing the truth with this person will be a waste of time because they probably ...

Many of us know the famous parable about time and the ice seller.
A man stands in the marketplace on a hot, sunny day, selling ice under the intensity of the heat. He cries out in desperation, saying:
“Have mercy on the one whose ice is melting!”

With every fleeting moment, he is losing his capital -the ice.
And with every passing moment, it melts away, whether he sells it or not. This is the parable of time, and how quickly, like ice, it is dep...

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate,

It is fair to state time is going fast, and we are distracted and preoccupied, especially when we do not balance social media correctly or wordly pursuance. Sure, social media has it's merits but scrolling through we often become easily distracted.

The story of Sulaiman alahis salaam, when he missed once, his Asr Salah due to admiring his horses. He at once, repented and slaugh...

I cannot swim.
A big fear I have is of deep waters and, of course, drowning.
Na'udzubiLLAHi min dzalik

Ustadz Nouman Ali Khan likened this surah to waking up a person who is not only drowning but unconscious while being tied to his unconscious family and friends! Amongst many other ayahs and surahs, this is the ultimate wake up call for me. The animated video of this surah is on constant play mode in my head.

Ustadz reminded me that not only ...

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Kind,

If we take out our phones and we tap into our ‘photos’ and if we were to scroll through our hundreds of pictures, it will bear witness that time has gone by very fast.

Those children who were babies are growing up, we have pictures of parents or grandparents who are no longer with us, some friends who are no longer with us. All of them were with us only yesterday. Some of us are sprouting...
