The 99 Names of Allah
This name means ‘to dominate over’ or ‘to subdue from above’. God says in the Qur'an: 'And He is the subjugator (Al-Qaahiru) over His servants. And He is the Wise (Al-Hakeem), the Acquainted [with all] (Al-Khabeer). The root of this word is kh-b-r (خ-ب-ر), which means ‘to know’, or ‘to be aware of the real inner nature of something’, or ‘to be an expert in something because you know both the inner and the outer’. It appears in Sahih Ahadith that the Holy Prophet (وسلم وآلہ عليہ ہللا صلی ) used to say this in his prayers very often:
'Allah, there is no withholder of what You have bestowed and there is no giver of what You have withheld and no status of a man of status can be of use to him against You.'
