إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتَهُۥ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى ٱلنَّبِىِّ ۚ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ صَلُّوا۟ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا۟ تَسْلِيمًا ٥٦

What is the need for our prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ, if Allah ﷻ and all His Angels continuously do so already?
The simple answer is that this is an opportunity for the believers to honour themselves.

The Prophetﷺ said:
أولى الناس بي يوم القيامة أكثرهم علي صلاةً
'The people who are most deserving of my closeness on the Day of Judgement are those who send prayers upon me in abundance.' (Source: Jami At-Tirmith: 484, Authenticated by At-Tirmithi)
The time you spend sending prayers upon the Prophetﷺ, is a reflection of how much you desire to be near to him on that day.

We learn from narrations of the Prophet (ﷺ) that there are many virtues of sending salawat (blessings and greetings) upon him. The Prophet ﷺ taught us that being pleasant and courteous with people is an act of great reward.
