إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ (5)
إنا نخصك وحدك بالعبادة, ونستعين بك وحدك في جميع أمورنا, فالأمر كله بيدك, لا يملك منه أحد مثقال ذرة. وفي هذه الآية دليل على أن العبد لا يجوز له أن يصرف شيئًا من أنواع العبادة كالدعاء والاستغاثة والذبح والطواف إلا لله وحده, وفيها شفاء القلوب من داء التعلق بغير إله, ومن أمراض الرياء والعجب, والكبرياء.

ذكر الاستعانة بعد العبادة مع دخولها فيها لاحتياج العبد في جميع عباداته إلى الاستعانة بالله تعالى؛ فإن لم يعنه الله لم يحصل له ما يريده من فعل الأوامر واجتناب النواهي. السعدي: 39.

لما كان سؤال الله الهداية إلى الصراط المستقيم أجلّ المطالب ونيله أشرف المواهب علّم الله عباده كيفية سؤاله، وأمرهم أن يقدموا بين يديه حمده والثناء عليه، وتمجيده ثم ذكر عبوديتهم وتوحيدهم، فهاتان وسيلتان إلى مطلوبهم: توسل إليه بأسمائه وصفاته، وتوسل إليه بعبوديته. وهاتان الوسيلتان لا يكاد يرد معهما الدعاء. ابن القيم: 1/36.

We all have ups and downs in faith. Some days worship feels natural, the heart feels soft, and remembering Allah is easy. Other days, the weight of distractions, laziness, or worries makes it harder to stay connected. A declaration of the conviction that I have cutoff my associations to all other objects of worship.
وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
A natural consequence of 'you alone we worship' is seeking help from Allah, only.
It is a statement which reminds us that a Muslim is independent of others and dependent only on Allah because a believer has no other helper besides Allah. This submission gives a believer freedom from all forms of slavery.

The Surah starts with the praise of Allah and the description of his attributes- then on Ayahs 5&6 Allah is asked for help and guidance. This tells us that one way of getting your prayers answered is to first know the attributes of who you’re praying to.
