لم يتكل اصحاب رسول الله على موعود الله بحفظ كتابه ودينه إذ قال: 'وإنا له لحافظون' ، بل شرعوا يكتبونه ويحفظونه ويجمعونه وينسخونه حتى تحقق بهم موعود الله بحفظ كتابه

ومعنى حفظه: حراسته عن التبديل والتغيير كما جرى في غيره من الكتب، فتولى الله حفظ القرآن، فلم يقدر أحد على الزيادة فيه ولا النقصان منه، ولا تبديله بخلاف غيره من الكتب؛ فإن حفظها موكول إلى أهلها؛ لقوله: ﴿بِمَا ٱسۡتُحۡفِظُواْ مِن كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ﴾ [المائدة: 44]. ابن جزي:1/450.

What made Orientalists attest to the preservation of the Quran in it's written form was the fact that they saw consistency across the various manuscripts which date back to the mid 7th century when Uthman RA ordered for the masahif (written copies of the Quran) to be unified. These consistencies exist even in cases where the uninitiated might assume that human intervention would be warranted. For example, in the writing of:

میری والدہ قرآن پاک کی تجوید سکھاتی ہیں انکے سٹوڈنٹس میں سے ایک آٹھ سالہ بچی جسکی قرآن پاک کے اعراب پہ توجہ دیکھ کر میں حیران رہ جاتی ہوں۔ مجھے لگتا ہے اسکی زندگی کی سب سے بڑی ٹینشن یہی ہوتی ہے کہ اس کے اردگرد بیٹھا کوئی بچہ کہیں پہ تجوید پہ کوئی غلطی نہ کرے، کیونکہ اس سے معنی تبدیل ہو سکتے ہیں۔ اگر کوئی اعراب کی ادائیگی پہ دھیان نہ دے تو وہ اپنا سر پیٹتی ہے اُس کے اِس انداز پہ مجھے بہت پیار آتا ہے معلوم نہیں رب کو اس پہ کتنا پیار آتا ہوگا۔

Clearly, Allah SWT states that He, no one else but Him, He is the one who had bestowed upon us the Quran and that no one else but Him is The Preserver of the Quran. Allah calls the Quran here as Az-Dhikra - the Reminder. It is not a book containing reminders but it is in its entirety, a complete reminder.

Al-Qadhi ‘Iyâdh reports in al-Madârik that al-Qadhi Ismâ‘eel b. Ishâq b. Hammâd al-Mâliki al-Basri was asked about how changes found their way into the previous scriptures, but the Qur’an was free of them. He answered that Allah entrusted the Rabbis preservation of their scriptures:
