Alif , Lām , Mīm , Rā. These are the verses of the Book. What has been sent down to you from your Lord is true, but most of the people do not believe.

— Mufti Taqi Usmani

Alif Lam Mim Ra These are the signs of the Scripture. What your Lord has sent down to you [Prophet] is the truth, yet most people do not believe.

— Abdul Haleem

Alif. Lam. Mim. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture. That which is revealed unto thee from thy Lord is the Truth, but most of mankind believe not.

— Pickthall

A. L. M. R. These are the signs (or verses) of the Book: that which hath been revealed unto thee from thy Lord is the Truth; but most men believe not.

— Yusuf Ali

— Alauddin Mansour

Alif-Lam-Mim-Ra.

— Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem

Alif. Lam. Mim. Ra'. These are the verses of the Divine Book. Whatever has been revealed to you from your Lord is the truth, and yet most (of your) people do not believe.1

— Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi

ﭿ

Allah is the One who raised the heavens without pillars that you can see them. Then He positioned Himself on the Throne and subjugated the sun and the moon, each one of them running to an appointed time. He manages all matters, elaborating the signs, so that you may be sure of meeting your Lord.

— Mufti Taqi Usmani

It is God who raised up the heavens with no visible supports and then established Himself on the throne; He has subjected the sun and the moon each to pursue its course for an appointed time; He regulates all things, and makes the revelations clear so that you may be certain of meeting your Lord;

— Abdul Haleem

Allah it is Who raised up the heavens without visible supports, then mounted the Throne, and compelled the sun and the moon to be of service, each runneth unto an appointed term; He ordereth the course; He detaileth the revelations, that haply ye may be certain of the meeting with your Lord.

— Pickthall

Allah is He Who raised the heavens without any pillars that ye can see; is firmly established on the throne (of authority); He has subjected the sun and the moon (to his Law)! Each one runs (its course) for a term appointed. He doth regulate all affairs, explaining the signs in detail, that ye may believe with certainty in the meeting with your Lord.

— Yusuf Ali

— Alauddin Mansour

— Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem

It is Allah Who has raised the heavens without any supports that you could see,1 and then He established Himself on the Throne2 (of Dominion). And He it is Who has made the sun and the moon subservient3 (to a law), each running its course till an appointed term.4 He governs the entire order of the universe and clearly explains5 the signs that you may be firmly convinced about meeting your Lord.6

— Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi

He is the One who spread out the earth and made mountains and rivers on it, and created in it the pairs of two from all the fruits. He makes the night cover the day. Surely, in that there are signs for a people who think.

— Mufti Taqi Usmani

it is He who spread out the earth, placed firm mountains and rivers on it, and made two of every kind of fruit; He draws the veil of night over the day. There truly are signs in this for people who reflect.

— Abdul Haleem

And He it is Who spread out the earth and placed therein firm hills and flowing streams, and of all fruits He placed therein two spouses (male and female). He covereth the night with the day. Lo! herein verily are portents for people who take thought.

— Pickthall

And it is He who spread out the earth, and set thereon mountains standing firm and (flowing) rivers: and fruit of every kind He made in pairs, two and two: He draweth the night as a veil o'er the Day. Behold, verily in these things there are signs for those who consider!

— Yusuf Ali

— Alauddin Mansour

— Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem

He it is Who has stretched out the earth and has placed in it firm mountains and has caused the rivers to flow. He has made every fruit in pairs, two and two, and He it is Who causes the night to cover the day.1 Surely there are signs in these for those who reflect.

— Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi

And in the earth there are tracts of land neighboring each other, and gardens of grapes, and farms and date palms, some having twin trunks and some having a single one. (Although) all of them are irrigated with the same water, We make some of them better than others in taste. Surely, in that there are signs for a people who understand.

— Mufti Taqi Usmani

There are, in the land, neighbouring plots, gardens of vineyards, cornfields, palm trees in clusters or otherwise, all watered with the same water, yet We make some of them taste better than others: there truly are signs in this for people who reason.

— Abdul Haleem

And in the Earth are neighbouring tracts, vineyards and ploughed lands, and date-palms, like and unlike, which are watered with one water. And we have made some of them to excel others in fruit. Lo! herein verily are portents for people who have sense.

— Pickthall

And in the earth are tracts (diverse though) neighbouring, and gardens of vines and fields sown with corn, and palm trees - growing out of single roots or otherwise: watered with the same water, yet some of them We make more excellent than others to eat. Behold, verily in these things there are signs for those who understand!

— Yusuf Ali

— Alauddin Mansour

— Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem

And on the earth there are many tracts of land neighbouring each other.1 There are on it vineyards, and sown fields, and date palms: some growing in clusters from one root, some standing alone.2 They are irrigated by the same water, and yet We make some excel others in taste. Surely there are signs in these for a people who use their reason.3

— Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi

If you wonder, then wondrous indeed is their saying, “Is it that, once we are dust, we are to be created anew?” They are those who have disbelieved in their Lord, and they are those who (shall) have shackles around their necks, and they are the people of the Fire. They shall remain there forever.

— Mufti Taqi Usmani

If anything can amaze you [Prophet], then you should surely be amazed at their asking, ‘What? When we become dust, shall we be created anew?’ These are the ones who deny their Lord, who will wear iron collars around their necks and be the inhabitants of the Fire, there to remain.

— Abdul Haleem

And if thou wonderest, then wondrous is their saying: When we are dust, are we then forsooth (to be raised) in a new creation? Such are they who disbelieve in their Lord; such have carcans on their necks; such are rightful owners of the Fire, they will abide therein.

— Pickthall

If thou dost marvel (at their want of faith), strange is their saying: "When we are (actually) dust, shall we indeed then be in a creation renewed?" They are those who deny their Lord! They are those round whose necks will be yokes (of servitude): they will be Companions of the Fire, to dwell therein (for aye)!

— Yusuf Ali

— Alauddin Mansour

— Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem

And were you to wonder, then wondrous indeed is the saying of those who say: "What! After we have been reduced to dust, shall we be created afresh?" They are the ones who disbelieved in their Lord;1 they are the ones who shall have shackles around their necks.2 They shall be the inmates of the Fire, wherein they will abide for ever.

— Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi

They ask for evil to come sooner than good, while punishments have really come to pass (against people) earlier to them. And surely, your Lord is the lord of forgiveness for the people against their wrongdoing, and surely, your Lord is severe in punishing.

— Mufti Taqi Usmani

They ask you to bring on the punishment rather than any promised rewards, though there have been many examples before them––your Lord is full of forgiveness for people, despite their wrongdoing, but He is truly severe in punishment.

— Abdul Haleem

And they bid thee hasten on the evil rather than the good, when exemplary punishments have indeed occurred before them. But lo! thy Lord is rich in pardon for mankind despite their wrong, and lo! thy Lord is strong in punishment.

— Pickthall

They ask thee to hasten on the evil in preference to the good: Yet have come to pass, before them, (many) exemplary punishments! But verily thy Lord is full of forgiveness for mankind for their wrong-doing, and verily thy Lord is (also) strict in punishment.

— Yusuf Ali

— Alauddin Mansour

— Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem

They challenge you to hasten the coming of evil upon them before the coming of any good,1 although people who followed a like course before had met with exemplary punishment (from Allah). Verily your Lord is forgiving to mankind despite all their wrong-doing. Verily your Lord is also severe in retribution.

— Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi

The disbelievers say, “Why is it that no sign has been sent down to him from his Lord?” You are but a warner; and for every people there is a guide.

— Mufti Taqi Usmani

The disbelievers say, ‘Why has no miracle been sent down to him from his Lord?’ But you are only there to give warning: [earlier] communities each had their guide.

— Abdul Haleem

Those who disbelieve say: If only some portent were sent down upon him from his Lord! Thou art a warner only, and for every folk a guide.

— Pickthall

And the Unbelievers say: "Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" But thou art truly a warner, and to every people a guide.

— Yusuf Ali

— Alauddin Mansour

— Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem

Those who refused to believe in you say: "Why has no (miraculous) sign been sent down upon him from his Lord?"1 You are only a warner, and every people has its guide.2

— Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi

ﭿ

Allah knows what every female carries and what the wombs decrease or increase. Everything has measure with Him

— Mufti Taqi Usmani

God knows what every female bears and how much their wombs shrink or swell- everything has its measure with Him;

— Abdul Haleem

Allah knoweth that which every female beareth and that which the wombs absorb and that which they grow. And everything with Him is measured.

— Pickthall

Allah doth know what every female (womb) doth bear, by how much the wombs fall short (of their time or number) or do exceed. Every single thing is before His sight, in (due) proportion.

— Yusuf Ali

— Alauddin Mansour

— Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem

Allah knows what every female bears; and what the wombs fall short of (in gestation), and what they may add.1 With Him everything is in a fixed measure.

— Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi

He is the Knower of the hidden and the manifest. He is the Great, the High.

— Mufti Taqi Usmani

He knows what is not seen as well as what is seen; He is the Great, the Most High.

— Abdul Haleem

He is the Knower of the Invisible and the Visible, the Great, the High Exalted.

— Pickthall

He knoweth the unseen and that which is open: He is the Great, the Most High.

— Yusuf Ali

— Alauddin Mansour

— Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem

He knows both what is hidden and what is manifest. He is the Supreme One, the Most High.

— Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi

Alike (for Him) is he, from among you, who speaks quietly and he who speaks aloud, and he who hides in the night and he who walks out in the day.

— Mufti Taqi Usmani

It makes no difference whether any of you speak secretly or aloud, whether you are hiding under cover of night or walking about in the day:

— Abdul Haleem

Alike of you is he who hideth the saying and he who noiseth it abroad, he who lurketh in the night and he who goeth freely in the daytime.

— Pickthall

It is the same (to Him) whether any of you conceal his speech or declare it openly; whether he lie hid by night or walk forth freely by day.

— Yusuf Ali

— Alauddin Mansour

— Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem

It is all the same for Him whether any of you says a thing secretly, or says it loudly, and whether one hides oneself in the darkness of night, or struts about in broad daylight.

— Tafheem-ul-Quran - Abul Ala Maududi

For every one (from among you) there are angels replacing one another, in front of him and behind him, who guard him under the command of Allah. Surely, Allah does not change the condition of a people unless they change themselves. When Allah intends evil for a people, there is no way to turn it back, and for them there is no patron other than Him.

— Mufti Taqi Usmani

each person has guardian angels before him and behind, watching over him by God’s command. God does not change the condition of a people [for the worse] unless they change what is in themselves, but if He wills harm on a people, no one can ward it off–– apart from Him, they have no protector.

— Abdul Haleem

For him are angels ranged before him and behind him, who guard him by Allah's command. Lo! Allah changeth not the condition of a folk until they (first) change that which is in their hearts; and if Allah willeth misfortune for a folk there is none that can repel it, nor have they a defender beside Him.

— Pickthall

For each (such person) there are (angels) in succession, before and behind him: They guard him by command of Allah. Allah does not change a people's lot unless they change what is in their hearts. But when (once) Allah willeth a people's punishment, there can be no turning it back, nor will they find, besides Him, any to protect.

— Yusuf Ali

— Alauddin Mansour

— Frank Bubenheim and Nadeem

There are guardians over everyone, both before him and behind him, who guard him by Allah's command.1 Verily Allah does not change a people's condition unless they change their inner selves. And when Allah decides to make a people suffer punishment, no one can avert it. Nor can any be of help to such a people against Allah.2
