When we think of generosity in general we think of wealth or worldly possessions. This ayah isn't talking about worldly possessions or luxuries. This ayah is talking about reciting and reading.
Allah gives worldly treasures or kingdoms to kaafir too but Allah gives guidance and Towfeeq to recite His kalam ( speech) only to a few. If we are given this gift then don't take it for granted and remember to than...See more
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful,
Mankind will invent all sorts of things, mankind will discover all sorts of things, people have written volumes of encyclopaedias, some people have such a capacity to store and memorise intricate details and are able to solve the most difficult maths and physics equations. Mankind will achieve some status and sometimes some limited power.
Allah teaching us what we know is purely from His unmatched generosity. Anyone who doesn't bother to make time for attaining knowledge thereby rejects the grace and blessing that Allah bestowed upon us.
#Knowledge, #Purification, and #Activism are inseparable and important components to any believer. The first verses to be revealed in the Holy Quran started with these three components and requirements: Read (knowledge), Prayer & Qiyam (Purification), and Warn and spread the message (Activism).
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

This instruction was the first instruction given to our blessed Prophet peace and blessings be upon him, not once but twice.
Our blessed Prophet peace and blessings be upon him was a man who could not read or write. But this preliminary instruction was bestowed upon him through Angel Gabriel. Thus, it has been bestowed through the blessed Prophet peace be upon him also t...See more
Intellect and enlightment are hallmarks of the Muslim. We have an obligation to develop and grow our minds. Our entire civilization is based on knowledge.
In Jalal al-Din as-Suyuti's book 'Secrets Within the Order of the Qur'an' the section on this surah mentions that one of the profound messages of surah al-'Alaq is the incentive to seek knowledge. This made me ponder about the wisdom behind Allah choosing these verses as the first verses ever revealed to His messenger.
The sequence in which the Qur'an was revealed is not aleatory but rather an example of its miracle and purpose. Each ayah is ca...See more
In these verses Allah reminds us of our origin: "Created man from a clinging clot. From something fragile and insignificant, He formed a complete human being. This verse humbles me. No matter how much knowledge I gain, my beginning was small, and my dependence on Allah remains complete. Knowledge should lead to humility, not pride.
Allah repeats the command "Read", but this time He adds comfort: "And your Lord is the Most Generous." It feels as ...See more
Bismillahi Rahmani Raheem SUBHANALLAH..... There will be lot of blessing and mercy from our RABB,when we try to READ anything or any situation with BISMILLAH.Whenever we are in a situation in which we cannot read what is happening in our lives or around us,try to understand the situation by always keeping Allah in front of us.Be humble and purely submit to the will of Allah by realizing that we are nothing,we were created f...See more
I found this very 'new' tafseer from Abdulla Galadari in 'Quranic Hermeneutics, Between Science, History and the Bible' pp.53-55. He approaches the origins of Revelation from a more secular perspective but does not deny explicitly that the Qur'an does come from God:
1. The second verse of sūrah al-Rahmān states that God teaches the Qur'an, sharing the same root of the word Qur 'an, ' iqra ' when compared with the first and third verses of sūrah ...See more
