Again, no! Never obey him ˹O Prophet˺! Rather, ˹continue to˺ prostrate and draw near ˹to Allah˺.

Draw Near! اقترب

At the start of Ramadan, we are reminded of an amazing ayah that is situated between the ayat of Ramadan (Al-Baqara:186 in the 2nd juzu)... Allah swt is expressing how near He is to us, right after the mention of Ramadan in which the Quran was revealed.

Then towards the end of Ramadan, as we reach surat Al-Qadr, we anticipate the night of Alqadr, which is the best and most glorified night for no other reason than being the nigh...

Bismillah

I think about the way my own brain is made. Hidden deep inside is a small cluster, the nucleus accumbens, the place where reward is felt. Neuroscientists say it lights up with dopamine whenever I taste sweetness, hear praise, win a success, or even check a message on my phone. The brain whispers: this feels good, remember it, chase it again.

And I do chase it again. The world knows this. Industries are built on it. Food, entertainme...

As a new Muslim, I have been shy to show my new beliefs by praying out in public to ensure prayer is at a timely manner. I find myself reflecting on what others think, but I have to shut those thoughts away as the only opinion I should truly care about is Allah's. This verse reminds me that Allah sees my fears of judgments of others and reminds me that I need to ground myself back to why I am praying. I have slowly become better at this and bloc...See more

Inverted Vessels

We use clay pots for cooking. My mom always reminds us to wash and invert them on the shelf after use, lest any harmful or toxic pests crawl in and leave their venomous residue, making them irreversibly contaminated.
This morning, gazing at that inverted pot on the shelf, I pondered my own creation. We, too, are fragile vessels, made of clay. If the winds of time – satanic whispers, trials, and tribulations – seep into us, we b...

Draw Near

As sacred days and special occasions unfold, we often find ourselves oscillating between two extremes. On one hand, we resolve to intensify our devotion, while on the other, we become entangled in the intricacies of worship. We worry about the minutiae of optional prayers, supplications, and the allocation of time for spiritual pursuits. This dilemma often accompanies us during the Night of Power, as we yearn to experience this blessed...

Draw Near

It was narrated from 'Aishah RA that she said:

'O Messenger of Allah SAW, what do you think I should say in my supplication, if I come upon Laylatul-Qadr?' He said:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
'O Lord, You embody pardon, You delight in pardoning, so cloak me in Your pardon.'
Sunan Ibn Majah, 3850

Imam Ghazali wrote that 'Afuw' refers to the One who erases sins and overlooks disobedience. Similar to 'G...

﷽

Have you seen the kind of man who forbids a servant when he follows the divine commands?
Have you considered if such a person is on the road to guidance
or if his affairs are leading him to security?

Do you see him denying the truth and turning away from all that is good?

Nay, never be intimidated by a man like this!
But humble yourself in adoration to divine commands, and let every step of yours bring you closer (to your Lord)

Importance of Education in Islam

Education is a privilege. It is for the well-being for our lives, the present and the future. It is the best way to learn how to read, write, listen and communicate with others. We become a refined person. It teaches us to think better and make sound decisions.
Statistics show teens and adults have 80% chance of living longer and healthier lives. With minimal education, one can only have low income jobs or skill...
