It always starts small, doesn’t it? A small compromise here, a little neglect there. You delay or even skip a prayer because you're tired, you brush off a lie because it seems harmless. You tell yourself, it’s nothing. Just this once. Just this time. You tell yourself that as long as you avoid the major sins, you’re safe. But isn’t that a dangerous assumption? Isn’t it arrogance to think that disobeying Allah in 'small' ways doesn’t matter?

You can't eliminate the cars altogether, but you are fully capable of letting them pass by. What happens if that car slams its brakes? There will be a traffic jam, maybe even an accident. No benefit will come from allowing that car to stop. Let the cars keep passing through, one...See more Allah, exalted is He, in all his might, does not need to make an oath, but when he does we better pay full attention and heed what follows...
In this short surah, a record number of oaths are made, as Allah swears by 11 signs:
1. The sun 2. it's brightness 3. the moon 4. the day 5. the night 6. the heavens/skies 7. the One Who built it 8. the earth 9. the One Who spread it 10. the soul 11. The one who fashioned it...

Every door we open leads us somewhere, but not every place is good for us. She told me to be careful about the ones I choose, especially doors that lead to haram, whether it’s a haram friendship, a haram job, or even just one bad habit.
She said, 'Once you open the door to something haram, it’s rarel...See more They say time heals all wounds. That is true, because bit by bit, with time, we tend to forget the pain & suffering. But what if instead of forgetting, we remembered instead? Instead of time healing all wounds, time becomes the torture device that opens all wounds. What if that time lasted 50,000 years? That is what Allah mentions of the duration of the day of judgement.

The soul is a precious thing. If you think about it, it’s who we REALLY are. Our bodies are simply vessels for the duration of our time here on earth...and then we, our souls, simply move on.
There’s a lot that can be said about the soul and so much we just don’t kn...See more Sharing this reflection that I recently heard from someone else - may Allah reward the person who shared it
In these two verses, Allah (swt) contrasts the person who is truly successful, who works to purify their soul and the one who is doomed because, as most translations will say, he “corrupted” it
The word دساها literally means to bury or conceal something, just as in Surat An-Nahl, when Allah (swt) strongly condemns the pre-Islamic practic...See more Growth / purification of the self / soul is a lifelong endeavor which can be achieved through spiritual practices (prayer, fasting, dhikr, istigfar, etc.). Gradually, becoming more peaceful, patient and kind improves our individual wellbeing and positively affects the people around us.
The opposite is also true. Corrupting our souls (through sinful activities) destroys our own happiness and negatively affects others: What can i say about these infinitely beautiful ayat?
Allah, the most High, the Owner of everything that exists, the Truthful and Wise, Him! He is taking so many oaths!
Look at the One who is making these oaths, and look at the majesty of the things He is taking an oath by!

Allah willing, I wanted to continue on from there and look to the descriptions of disbelief and hypocrisy. Like the description of the muttaqeen, their descriptions can tell us much, except this time about the characteristics we should be wary of within ourselves.
We begin to recite once again, we look to how Allah de...See more
