وعنده مفاتح الغيب لا يعلمها الا هو ويعلم ما في البر والبحر وما تسقط من ورقة الا يعلمها ولا حبة في ظلمات الارض ولا رطب ولا يابس الا في كتاب مبين

۞ وَعِندَهُۥ مَفَاتِحُ ٱلْغَيْبِ لَا يَعْلَمُهَآ إِلَّا هُوَ ۚ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۚ وَمَا تَسْقُطُ مِن وَرَقَةٍ إِلَّا يَعْلَمُهَا وَلَا حَبَّةٍ فِى ظُلُمَـٰتِ ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا رَطْبٍ وَلَا يَابِسٍ إِلَّا فِى كِتَـٰبٍ مُّبِينٍ

Kalau kita risau, takut, turn our fears into doa kepada Allah, kunci kepada future yang ghaib

Often times we feel quite alone but the truth is we never are. There's not a thing that a living being does, think and feel within the Universe that Allah does not have knowledge of. He knows all the wrongs and rights that are done.

Allah repeatedly mentions in the Quran that He Knows, He Sees and He Hears it ALL. Allah is Aalimul Ghaib (knower of the Unseen), He is Sami ul Aleem (All Hearing and All Knowing). 

"Whether you speak secretly or openly—He surely knows best what is (hidden) in the heart. How could He not know His Own creation? For He (alone) is the Most Subtle, All-Aware. - Al-Mulk 67:13-14 

"And with Him are the keys of the Unseen. No one knows them but He. And He knows what is in the land and the sea. Not a leaf ever falls but He knows it, nor a grain in the dark hollows of the earth, nor anything fresh or dry, but are in a manifest book." - Al-An'am 6:59 

The injustice done to you, the pain you feel in the depths of your heart thinking no one understands or no one truly cares, He does, He cares. If He could hear the cries of Yunus (A.S) (Jonah) who was stuck in the belly of a whale in the depths of the bottomless ocean can He not hear you? 

Yunus (A.S) cried out to Allah 

  لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ

“There is none worthy of worship except You, Glory to You, Indeed, I have been of the transgressors.”

Had he thought to himself, I'm doomed, that's it, I'm alone, he never would have made it out.

O believers! Seek comfort in patience and prayer. Allah is truly with those who are patient. - Al-Baqarah 2:153 

I believe Allah reminds us often that He is aware so we are always concious of Him, so we have Muraqaba (watchfulness) which leads to Hayah, it's one of the most important branches of Imaan, to humble yourself in front of Allah, being shy in front of Him which then leads to all the other branches like Sabr, Tawakkul, Ihklas, Shukr, Kushoo and they all lead up to the highest level which is Ihsaan. To worship Allah as if though you see Him knowing fully that He sees you.

If Allah knows about the leaf that falls from a tree amidst the vastness of the Earth, then surely my Lord knows about the thoughts in my head, the frustrations I keep from projecting them onto my family, the tiredness I feel from the chores I do when they're not at home, my tensed face and body that I'm struggling to manage. A single word from our Rabb is enough to mend the heart. Alhamdulillah.  #muslimwomen ​ ​ ​ 

I was traveling somewhere a few days ago, and we were passing along a road lined with trees on both sides. Which was subhanALLAH, truly a beautiful view. So, as I was taking in that scenery, looking at the trees, I started thinking about the leaves… so many that the idea of counting them was unimaginable.. It felt impossible. And at that moment, the following ayah came to my mind:

وَمَا تَسۡقُطُ مِن وَرَقَةٍ إِلَّا يَعۡلَمُهَا...
"No leaf ever falls but that He knows about it.."
~Means: He knows the number of the leaves that fall from the trees and those that remain on them. And it is also said: He knows how many times it turned from its back to its front until it fell. [Tafsir Baghawi]

This ayah made me realize that there are countless trees across the entire earth, and each tree carries countless leaves. Yet, not a single leaf escapes His sight or His knowledge.
It was a moment of awe for me and tears filled my eyes that, If not a single leaf escapes His knowledge, then how could our prayers, our tears, and the emotions we hold ever go unnoticed by Him? Every tear we shed, every pain we hold, every whispered dua, our fears and hopes... He knows it all. Every thing is under His knowledge. Nothing is overlooked. Nothing is forgotten. ✨

Having both fear and hope feels kinda strange sometimes.

You can have great comfort in knowing that Allah ﷻ enumerates everything from the leaves falling on the ground to your tears falling on your prayer rug.

“Not a leaf falls but that He knows it.” (6:59)

But then there’s great discomfort in knowing He counts your transgressions and ingratitude. Then comfort again in knowing He counts your istighfar and repentance.

“Not ˹even˺ an atom’s weight is hidden from your Lord on earth or in heaven; nor anything smaller or larger than that, but is ˹written˺ in a perfect Record.” (10:61)

You can go back and forth like this over and over because of this balance of reverence, awe, love, gratitude, and consciousness we’re expected to have for our Rabb.

“Be mindful of Allah and let every soul look to what ˹deeds˺ it has sent forth for tomorrow. And fear Allah, ˹for˺ certainly Allah is All-Aware of what you do.” (59:18)

“invoking their Lord with hope and fear.” (32:16)

We can’t be unafraid of His Might while being hopeful of His Mercy and Love. And we can’t be fearful of His Justice without being hopeful of His Forgiveness and Forbearance.

This is the dance of the believer’s heart.

A continuation from the previous reflection

The leaf represents the final, visible stage in the journey of a plant.
Behind it lie unseen stages — the leaf was once a seed, buried deep within the soil, hidden from every eye. Not even the one who sowed it knew the exact point where it lay. Then, from that unseen depth, life began to stir. A bud emerged, moist and tender — رَطْب, full of quiet vitality. As the soil continued to nourish it, it grew into a tree bearing leaves and fruit.

But in the process of keeping some of its parts رَطْب, others turned يَابِس. The once-juicy branches began to lose their softness, drying little by little. The caretaker might not have noticed this gradual change — yet none of it escaped the sight of Allah.

Now, turning to the spiritual journey:
A misdeed, a sin, is but the outer expression — the visible leaf — of an inner process that began long before. It started as a seed sown in the soil of the heart, when we allowed a whisper of Shayṭān — a moment of heedlessness, a fleeting desire, a quiet negligence of Allah’s command — to settle within. We may forget that seed, but Allah never loses sight of it.

If left unattended, that whisper begins to sprout, becoming a bud of deeper disobedience. At this stage, we are faced with a choice:
to let our إيمان remain رَطْب — alive, tender, nourished by remembrance — and cut off the seed of sin before it takes root;
or to neglect the call of faith, letting that seed grow رَطْب with our attention and indulgence, while our إيمان slowly turns يَابِس — dry, hardened, lifeless.

We may pretend not to know what is growing within us, but we do know. And more importantly — Allah knows.

So when we commit a sin, it stands as a testimony: that somewhere deep within, we once allowed the seed of deviation to embed itself, nourished it at the expense of our faith, and in time it bore fruit — the fallen leaf of disobedience.
And all of it — the unseen seed, the growing stem, and the falling leaf — was in the full knowledge of our Lord.
I ask Allah to uproot every seed of disobedience from the soil of our hearts— seeds that may still hold the potential to grow into a tree of sin. For we may not be aware of the weight of every thought we allow to settle within, but He is All-Knowing.

I pray the same for you dear sister.

Today, I was at a restaurant with my family. My chair faced a tree, and suddenly, a leaf fell. The place was alive — conversations flowing from every table, the laughter of children echoing through the air — a pleasing chaos. And in the midst of it all, a single leaf fell.

Did anyone notice? Perhaps no one, except me — sitting there, waiting for the food to be served. But who truly noticed? Who knew from the very beginning that this leaf would fall at that exact moment, in that exact place? Allah.

This āyah echoed in my mind: 'Not a leaf falls but that He knows it.'
And I asked myself — what lesson does this leaf hold for me, falling right before my eyes, at this particular moment?

I was surrounded by people — some who knew me, some who didn’t. I was in an ocean of human presence, where my eyes could deviate and no one would notice — not even the person sitting beside me. Yet Allah would still know. Even if my heart were to whisper, no one would hear — not amid the noise of people, not within the quiet of my home, nor in the darkness of my room.
But that falling leaf stands as a symbol of every thought I presume to be hidden, every deviation I imagine to go unnoticed.
For nothing escapes His sight. Every whisper is seen, every movement known, every sound heard.
 I felt compelled to let that fallen leaf rest upon the branch of my heart, as a reminder that even in my stillness, I am noticed by the One who never forgets.

Allahumma barik what a beautiful reminder.

I’m looking through the window at leaves swaying in the wind, and this ayah is speaking to me so loudly. My Lord’s knowledge is so mind-blowing!

Let me just zoom in on one leaf like He does in this ayah, as He knows not only the whole inventory of trees on the planet but every leaf upon each tree. His words here ('ma…min…illa') emphasise the absolute impossibility of any one leaf escaping His attention and perfect awareness.

Allah highlights the moment of falling, but this points to every moment that led up to it, how the leaf was first known within the seed and appeared as a bud, then every creature that crawled upon it and every breeze that stirred it as it made its journey from green to yellow, and prepared to make its way back to the ground.

Please go and look at your nearest tree (yes, really!). Think about how unremarkable that tree looks in the scale of things, yet how momentous every piece of its existence truly is. How many leaves upon this one tree? How many have fallen before this year, and how many autumns might yet witness this big, silent event?

In all the time this leaf was growing, could all the surveillance equipment and observation teams have spotted this leaf and counted it among all the billions out there? Would they even care to try? Allah knows, Allah cares.

And now the leaf is poised to fall, who can say when it will finally make its leap? How about its path: is there any way to predict its twists and turns? Even the greatest experts in meteorology can only go as far as to tell whether it might be windy today. The most powerful computers put together cannot chart out the turns of the breeze, or tell us where this leaf will land.

And once it lands, Divine knowledge does not come to an end. He knows every piece of it as it disintegrates, as it gives rise to the stuff of renewed life. All of this is in His book. Small and big, few and many, it is all the same to Him.

This is a perfect example and observation of how creation is always pointing towards the Creator. There is a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke that captures exactly that and I always find myself going back to it mentally when I see a falling leaf:

„The leaves fall, fall as from far,
Like distant gardens withered in the heavens;
They fall with slow and lingering descent.

And in the nights the heavy Earth, too, falls
From out the stars into the Solitude.

Thus all doth fall. This hand of mine must fall
And lo! the other one:—it is the law.
But there is One who holds this falling
Infinitely softly in His hands.'

The Profound Impact of Thoughtful Gestures and Life’s Lessons

Life is a continuous journey of learning and personal growth, where even the smallest actions can leave a lasting impression. I recall one of my colleagues who embodied this beautifully through her acts of sadaqah (charity). She always ensured her contributions were given with dignity and respect, carefully packing her donations to ensure the recipients never felt inferior. Her empathy, kindness, and understanding radiated in her warm demeanor, and she often went the extra mile to bring takeaways from outings to share with those who couldn’t afford a meal. These small, thoughtful gestures enriched my soul and reminded me of the profound emotional impact kindness can have on others.

Every experience in life, whether simple or challenging, carries a deeper meaning and an opportunity for growth. Situations like a flat tire, a broken phone, or even more significant trials such as illness or loss, may seem random but are part of Allah’s intricate design. Allah, in His infinite wisdom, knows every detail of creation — from the trajectory of a falling leaf to the destination of every raindrop. As mentioned in the Quran:
'And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it, nor is there a grain in the darknesses of the earth, nor anything fresh or dry but that it is [written] in a clear record.' (Surah Al-An'am, 6:59)

This verse highlights Allah’s perfect knowledge and control over His creation, reminding us that even the smallest act of goodness, as tiny as a mustard seed, is recorded.

Allah’s signs surround us, manifesting in the people we meet, the experiences we encounter, and the natural world we observe. The changing sky, the moon and stars, plants and animals, the seasons, and even the growth of our own bodies are all reminders of Allah’s greatness. These signs not only inspire awe but also serve as lessons for emotional and psychological growth. The Quran provides profound examples of learning through observation. For instance, when Qabil (Cain) witnessed a crow burying another, he learned the act of burial:
'Then Allah sent a crow scratching in the ground to show him how to hide the disgrace [i.e., body] of his brother. He said, ‘Woe to me! Have I failed to be like this crow and hide the disgrace [i.e., body] of my brother?’ And he became regretful.' (Surah Al-Ma’idah, 5:31)

Similarly, the story of Hajar and Ismael (peace be upon them) teaches us the power of observation. A caravan in Makkah observed birds circling and interpreted it as a sign of water, leading them to Hajar and the blessed Zamzam well. These examples demonstrate that every experience carries deeper lessons, especially when we remain mindful and aware.(ibn kathir)

The people we meet, whether for a brief moment or a lifetime, leave an imprint on our lives. Some remain with us, while others part due to life’s circumstances or death, yet their lessons linger long after they are gone. This underscores the importance of making conscious choices in our relationships, the media we consume, and the environments we engage with. 

This guidance encourages us to be mindful of the impact of our interactions and strive to contribute positively to others’ lives. Every interaction, whether small or significant, leaves a lasting effect. Our influence can either become a source of ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah) or ongoing harm (gunah jariyah). As the Quran beautifully illustrates:
'The example of those who spend their wealth for Allah’s sake is like a seed of grain which grows seven ears, and in each ear are a hundred grains.' (Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:261)

This verse reminds us of the potential for small acts of kindness to multiply and create a profound impact on the lives of others.

In conclusion, we must strive to leave behind positive legacies. Whether through small acts of kindness, thoughtful gestures, or meaningful interactions, our actions have the power to inspire and uplift. Even after we part ways, these actions can continue to benefit others, creating a ripple effect of goodness that lasts beyond our time. Let us embrace every experience as an opportunity for growth and remain mindful of the profound impact we can have on those around us.

Life is like a beautiful picture made of many threads, with everything written مکتوب in لوح محفوظ , where our destinies are recorded.

When a gardener plants seeds and knows that each one will grow at its own time, he trusts the natural process. He doesn’t rush or try to force things to grow because he understands that picking fruit too early will spoil its taste and quality.

In our lives, we also start different journeys, like personal growth, chasing dreams, or trying to preach/dawah goals. But sometimes we become impatient and want quick results. This impatience can lead to frustration, just like picking fruit before it’s ripe. Fruit that is picked too early does not taste good, and all the effort put into growing it is wasted.

For example, think about a student who studies for an exam at the last minute. They might pass the test, but they won’t really understand the subject. This rushed way of learning doesn’t help them in the long run, just like unripe fruit can’t provide proper nourishment.

Life, like nature, has its own timing. We must learn to trust this timing and understand that rushing things usually leads to disappointment. Real growth and true success come when we let things happen in their own time, taking care of our goals with patience and faith.

The Marshmallow Experiment, done by psychologist Walter Mischel, shows how important it is to wait for better rewards. In this study, children could choose to eat one marshmallow right away or wait 15 minutes to get two marshmallows. Those who were able to wait often did better in life, such as getting higher grades in school and having healthier relationships.

This experiment reflects the gardener’s trust in letting fruits ripen. Just like the children who waited got bigger rewards, people who practice patience in life tend to achieve better results. Seeking quick satisfaction—whether it’s by eating the marshmallow or picking fruit too early—often leads to disappointment.

In both cases, whether it’s about the marshmallow or unripe fruit, the lesson is clear: true success and happiness come to those who can wait. When we trust in time and allow ourselves to be patient, we open the door to better and more rewarding experiences in life.
