وان هذا صراطي مستقيما فاتبعوه ولا تتبعوا السبل فتفرق بكم عن سبيله ذلكم وصاكم به لعلكم تتقون

وَأَنَّ هَـٰذَا صِرَٰطِى مُسْتَقِيمًا فَٱتَّبِعُوهُ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُوا۟ ٱلسُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ وَصَّىٰكُم بِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ

While everyone else is chasing the worldly life,
you've already found the one path that matters — the one that leads to Allah.

The world keeps telling you to chase more. Prioritise your faith, and you're labelled a failure.

The people around you shape your character more than any trend.

"Indeed, that is My Path—perfectly straight. So follow it and do not follow other ways, for they will lead you away from His Way. This is what He has commanded you, so perhaps you will be conscious ˹of Allah˺." (6:153)

Choose company that pulls you toward Allah, not away — steadfast or astray starts there.

This verse resonates deeply with me when I reflect on the direction we take in life and how a small deviation, whether in worldly matters or in matters of faith, can steer us far off course. 

It’s so easy to become distracted. The world pulls us in so many directions—career, relationships, aspirations. Sometimes, we forget that the path we walk should always be aligned with a higher purpose, and in our moments of weakness, we might stray, unaware of the distance we’ve traveled from the straight path.

This is so true in matters of faith. One missed prayer becomes two, then a week, then a month. One forgotten moment of remembrance turns into a habit of silence. And before we know it, we feel lost, disconnected, even though we once felt so close.

Ramadan, SubhanAllah, is a gift by Allah swt. It is the time when we recalibrate and find the strength to break through the layers of distraction, to quiet the noise, and to return to the essential: prayer, patience, and seeking Allah’s mercy.

May we always find our way back to Him, and may our hearts remain steadfast, guided by His light. Ameen

'Two roads lie ahead, wide and steep,  
One with light, the other deep.  
One is ease, the world’s embrace,  
One is truth, a harder place.  

Yet whispers call from fleeting gains,  
Gold and silver, fleeting reigns.  
But hearts that yearn for heaven’s glow,  
Know which path will make them grow.  

For in the Book, the call is clear,  
'This is the path, walk with no fear.'
A road of mercy, faith, and light,  
A bridge from darkness into sight.  

So choose your steps, for time won’t wait,  
The road you take decides your fate. ' 


 I love writing poetry and while working with this one the line 'The Road you take decides your fate', got me thinking.

Fate or Will what comes first.
We are forced by Fate or our own will and course of actions decide our fate? ?
These are the questions that keeps on arising.

From where I stand, it's a clear case of will coming first, and fate following—except, of course, when it comes to things that are predestined.

 And the whole idea of 'Accountability' and being held accountable for our actions backs this up. 
See, we're only responsible for what we can control and choose to do willingly and hence we are accounted for the same.

Those parts of our lives we can't control, the predestined matters of our life ,i.e birth, death, the family we're born into etc.; we're not going to be questioned on those. It's a given.

Then, when you look at it another way, 'the road you take decides your fate' aligns deeply with the concept of Sirat al-Mustaqim (the Straight Path). 
The Quran repeatedly emphasizes that the choices we make determine our ultimate destiny both in this world and the Hereafter.

As we reach the middle of this blessed month, it's easy to feel a little fatigued whist we are worshipping. The excitement we feel at the beginning of Ramadan only lasts so many days until we start feeling a little tired. But this is just a reminder that we cannot rely on motivation to keep going, even if we aren't where we thought we'd be at this point it's okay to revisit our intentions that we had at the start of Ramadan, to remember why we are doing everything we are doing, the night prayers, the Quran recitation, the dhikr, the duas. We want to be closer to Allah, right? 

My main focus this Ramadan was on the Quran and my prayers. When it comes to the Quran, I want to understand more than just simply read it. I want to feel the words of Allah on a deeper level and truly understand what He is saying. I want to know the Quran so well that it becomes my life-long companion. 

When it comes to 'Ramadan goals', we often think about what we want to achieve only during the month, and if we achieve those things then Alhamdulillah, but it's important to consider how we will apply these things after Ramadan too. 

I think as we have reached the middle of Ramadan, it is a good time to evaluate what we have done so far and ask Allah to forgive our shortcomings. A very key thing is to also check where our hearts are, have we slowly drifted back into our old habits? 

Ya Rabb, Please allow us to make the most of this last half of Ramadan and accept our deeds, Ameen.
