تَبْصِرَةًۭ وَذِكْرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبْدٍۢ مُّنِيبٍۢ ٨
تَبۡصِرَةٗ

I was reflecting on ayah 16 through which Allah reminds us of his closeness. The jugular vein is the vessel that takes deoxygenated blood from the brain- our organ of comprehension, to our heart- our life giving organ which also has associations with spirituality and feeling. Verses 6-11 contemplate on Allah’s creation.
Verse 6 mentions the sky and then verse 7 goes down to the earth. Verse 9 and 10 once again show this rhythmic connection where the water comes downwards from the sky and this makes the earth grow and thrive and trees soar upwards.

Upon reflecting on Surah Qaf - ayah 22, one is reminded strongly of the temporary nature of this dunya. One can imagine it as similar to one who is half asleep, only to suddenly have cold water thrown on their face, rapidly waking them up, making them aware of their surroundings.

خُص العبد المنيب بالتبصرة والذكرى وإن كان فيما ذكر من أحوال الأرض إفادة التبصرة والذكرى لكل أحد لأن العبد المنيب هو الذي ينتفع بذلك؛ فكأنه هو المقصود من حكمة تلك الأفعال. وهذا تشريف للمؤمنين وتعريض بإهمال الكافرين التبصر والتذكر. ابن عاشور:26/291.
