Al-Ma'idah 5:3 حرمت عليكم الميتة والدم ولحم الخنزير وما اهل لغير الله به والمنخنقة والموقوذة والمتردية والنطيحة وما اكل السبع الا ما ذكيتم وما ذبح على النصب وان تستقسموا بالازلام ذالكم فسق اليوم ييس الذين كفروا من دينكم فلا تخشوهم واخشون اليوم اكملت لكم دينكم واتممت عليكم نعمتي ورضيت لكم الاسلام دينا فمن اضطر في مخمصة غير متجانف لاثم فان الله غفور رحيم ٣

Prohibited to you are dead animals,¹ blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allāh, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars,² and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islām as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

तुमपर ह़राम किया गया है मुर्दार,¹ (बहता हुआ) रक्त, सूअर का माँस और वह जिसपर (ज़बह करते समय) अल्लाह के अलावा का नाम पुकारा जाए, तथा गला घुटने वाला जानवर, और जिसे चोट लगी हो, तथा गिरने वाला और जिसे सींग लगा हो और जिसे दरिंदे ने खाया हो, परंतु जो तुम (इनमें से) ज़बह² कर लो। और जो थानों पर ज़बह किया गया हो और यह कि तुम तीरों के साथ भाग्य मालूम करो। यह सब (अल्लाह की) अवज्ञा है। आज वे लोग जिन्होंने कुफ़्र किया, तुम्हारे धर्म से निराश³ हो गए। तो तुम उनसे न डरो, केवल मुझसे डरो। आज⁴ मैंने तुम्हारे लिए तुम्हारा धर्म परिपूर्ण कर दिया, तथा तुमपर अपनी नेमत पूरी कर दी और तुम्हारे लिए इस्लाम को धर्म के तौर पर पसंद कर लिया। फिर जो व्यक्ति भूख की किसी सूरत में मजूबर कर दिया जाए, इस हाल में कि किसी पाप की ओर झुकाव रखने वाला न हो, तो निःसंदेह अल्लाह अति क्षमाशील, अत्यंत दयावान् है।
