O  believers! Avoid many suspicions, ˹for˺ indeed, some suspicions are sinful. And do not spy, nor backbite one another. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of their dead brother? You would despise that!1 And fear Allah. Surely Allah is ˹the˺ Accepter of Repentance, Most Merciful.

Bismillah

📌 Ramadan is a time of renewal, purification, and self-discipline—not just in our food and drink but in our words, thoughts, and hearts.

📌 One of the most common yet dangerous habits we fall into is gossip and backbiting, often disguised as venting, sharing, or seeking advice.

📌 Allah warns us in the Quran:
'And do not backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would detest it. And fea...

Would you ever contemplate getting together with a friend to eat a platter of pork chops? Surely we would despise the very thought of doing so. We go to the extent of making sure that not even a small amount of pork has been mixed in with our food ingredients.

'Would any of you like to eat the flesh of their dead brother? You would despise that!' 49:12

Next time you're in a conversation that begins to mix in some backbiting, reflect on how you...

I was studying for my Behavioral sciences exam and something just astounded me.
Causes of conflict were mentioned in the topic of 'Conflict resolution'. Going through it I was amazed to realize that Quran had already pointed these out before the subject of behavioral science came into existance.
🔹One cause was 'assumption'. In Surah Al-Hujuraat, Allah says
' Avoid many assumptions - ٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلظَّنِّ'
🔹'Communication Proble...

Thinking about Surah Al-Ḥujurāt 49:12..
This ayah doesn’t only discipline our speech or actions. It reaches deeper. It asks us to purify our thoughts and the assumptions we quietly form about others.

Thoughts are like seeds, they feel harmless at first. But when left unchecked, they grow into assumptions, then judgments, and eventually into suspicion that slowly ruins relationships and fractures communities.

Reflecting more on assumptions and h...

I think if we would reply everyone generously and instead of backbiting them on their flaws, we would help to fix them. Our relationship with them, and with Allah, would be much better.

Since Allah(SWT) dislikes backbiting, we must leave it.

I think it’s important to address a major issue: gossiping. It’s something that most people, myself included, have probably done at least once in their lives. As a girl, I’ll admit that I struggle with it at times. While I try my best to avoid it, there are moments when it slips out with my friends. I know that gossiping can be hurtful, even if it’s unintentional. It can create misunderstandings and make people feel betrayed. I’m aware that it's ...See more

WHO ARE WE GOSSIPING ABOUT TODAY?

Today, let’s talk about a bad habit that, unfortunately, has become all too common in our community—negative suspicion and gossip. Allah clearly warns us about it in this verse. Allah says to avoid much suspicion because some of it is sinful. Not every suspicion is true, and many of them lead to sin.

Imagine this: we see someone not attending congregational prayer, and we immediately conclude, 'Oh, they’re just...

What a scary image! imagine digging up a muslims grave and literally eating his flesh while he is dead. You are decreasing from his physical image while his soul is not present in his body to be able to defend himself. That is what makes it a disgusting sight that no sane human would participate in. Well backbiting is no different, but rather then decreasing his physical image, your are decreasing his social image and reducing from his honor whil...See more

One of the most striking images in the Qur’an appears here:
“Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother?”

Words can wound deeply.
Gossip, suspicion, and ridicule slowly destroy communities.

The surah teaches that faith must discipline the tongue and purify the heart.

The essence of Ramadan calls for compassion, understanding, and restraint in our interactions. As we observe the significance of fasting, let's practice 'Hijab',

it's crucial to remember that the hijab symbolizes not only modesty but also the dignity of individuals, often concealing personal struggles and adversities. Just as we should refrain from judgment regarding whether someone is fasting, especially in public; it's vital to honor the priva...
