47:21
طاعة وقول معروف فاذا عزم الامر فلو صدقوا الله لكان خيرا لهم ٢١
طَاعَةٌۭ وَقَوْلٌۭ مَّعْرُوفٌۭ ۚ فَإِذَا عَزَمَ ٱلْأَمْرُ فَلَوْ صَدَقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ لَكَانَ خَيْرًۭا لَّهُمْ ٢١
طَاعَةٞ
وَقَوۡلٞ
مَّعۡرُوفٞۚ
فَإِذَا
عَزَمَ
ٱلۡأَمۡرُ
فَلَوۡ
صَدَقُواْ
ٱللَّهَ
لَكَانَ
خَيۡرٗا
لَّهُمۡ
٢١
to obey and speak rightly. Then when fighting was ordained, it surely would have been better for them if they were true to Allah.

Is war only in self-defense? The aya says qital which means combat...not دفاع difa which is self-defense.

Allah forgive us and allow us to see truth as truth and bless us with following it and falsehood as falsehood and bless us with avoiding it.
اللهم أرنا الحق حقا و ارزقنا اتباعه و أرنا الباطل باطلا و ارزقنا اجتنابه

Rather then brag about how much we would serve islam had there been righteous leader or had I had the opportunity to be there when the action happens, focus on obeying Allah now in your daily life and when the time comes for you to be required to make a bigger sacrifice he will grant you the ability to do so.
