They will plead, “Our Lord! You made us lifeless twice, and gave us life twice.1 Now we confess our sins. So is there any way out?”

TWO DEATHS AND TWO LIVES

In our journey of existence all the spirits (Rooh) of all the human beings from Adam AS till the last person to come in this world were created. This was not our birth but rather creation through amr (أَمْرِ)of Allah through his word كُنْ فَيَكُونُ. Then the covenant of Alast was taken.
أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ ۖ قَالُوا بَلَىٰ
Then our first death took place and we were put to sleep. Then when we are born in this world that...

This ayah made me think really deep.

Classical scholars often explain it this way:
1. First “death” → Before we were created.
We were nothing. No body, no breath, no name.
2. First life → Our life in this world.

4. Second life → Resurrection on the Day of Judgment.
So the verse gently maps our entire existence:
Non-existence → Life → Death → Eternal Life

Immediately after that, the spotlight in the Surah turns into a man from the royal family of the phar...

Imagine your daughter is slandered of the worst of crimes imaginable and rumours spread all across the community. You then find out one of the major protagonists is your close relative who you have been financially providing for, for many years. Can you even begin to imagine the pain and enraged anger you would feel?

This is what Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) faced. He understandably swore an oath to stop spending on Mistah, d...
