Both times the name Al Wadud , The Most Affectionate or All-Loving is mentioned in the Quran, it's with mention of forgiveness.
There has to be some connection between Allah's love for a slave of His and when He grants His Slave the ability to ask for forgiveness.
We only seek forgiveness , because of the Love Allah has for us , that allows us to return to Him. No matter how severe or how many times a person errs.
