Ethics: Trustworthiness &amp; Fairness

Justice and fairness is required in all aspects of life. It is not just about measuring goods in trade—it is about being truthful and just in your dealings, whether in business, relationships, or responsibilities.

Have you ever taken more than your due share, whether intentionally or unintentionally? Maybe at work, by not giving full effort, or in friendships, by expecting more than you give. Perhaps in financial dealings, by trying to gain extra at someone else’s expense. This verse teaches you that true success is not in accumulating wealth or power unfairly but in earning Allah’s pleasure through honesty and fairness.

The warning against spreading corruption is also powerful. Corruption is not only large-scale injustice; it can be small, everyday acts—cheating, lying, taking advantage of others, or harming the environment. 

Even if dishonesty brings temporary gain, what lasts with Allah is what truly benefits you.

Living with the ayah;

Be Honest and Just in All Dealings

In business or work, always give what is fair—whether it's paying employees properly, giving clients honest service, or working diligently.

Try and give a little bit more than due.


In relationships, be fair—give people their rights, whether it’s respect, kindness, or fulfilling promises.
Avoid Taking What Doesn’t Belong to You

Never take advantage of someone’s ignorance or weakness.
If you owe someone something—whether money, an apology, or a responsibility—fulfill it promptly.
Refuse to Contribute to Corruption

Do not support or engage in unethical practices, even if they seem small.
Speak up when you see injustice, and encourage fairness in your surroundings.

Prioritise What Lasts with Allah

Remember that wealth, status, and success do not last—only what you earn with sincerity and justice stays with Allah.

True success is not in how much you gain but in how justly and honestly you live. What is with Allah is always better and everlasting.
