Tazkirul Quran Tafsir: Al-Baqarah Ayah 57

2:57

وظللنا عليكم الغمام وانزلنا عليكم المن والسلوى كلوا من طيبات ما رزقناكم وما ظلمونا ولاكن كانوا انفسهم يظلمون ٥٧

وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْغَمَامَ وَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَنَّ وَٱلسَّلْوَىٰ ۖ كُلُوا۟ مِن طَيِّبَـٰتِ مَا رَزَقْنَـٰكُمْ ۖ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَا وَلَـٰكِن كَانُوٓا۟ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَ ٥٧

وَظَلَّلۡنَاﲱ

عَلَيۡكُمُﲲ

ٱلۡغَمَامَﲳ

وَأَنزَلۡنَاﲴ

عَلَيۡكُمُﲵ

ٱلۡمَنَّﲶ

وَٱلسَّلۡوَىٰۖﲷﲸ

كُلُواْﲹ

مِنﲺ

طَيِّبَٰتِﲻ

مَاﲼ

رَزَقۡنَٰكُمۡۚﲽﲾ

وَمَاﲿ

ظَلَمُونَاﳀ

وَلَٰكِنﳁ

كَانُوٓاْﳂ

أَنفُسَهُمۡﳃ

يَظۡلِمُونَﳄ

٥٧ﳅ

And ˹remember when˺ We shaded you with clouds and sent down to you manna and quails,¹ ˹saying˺, “Eat from the good things We have provided for you.” The evildoers ˹certainly˺ did not wrong Us, but wronged themselves.

True piety is to worship God alone, to believe in Him though one has not seen Him, to live in fear of Judgement Day, to subsist on the pure things of the earth, to prevent whomsoever one can from falling into sin. It is those who adopt this way of life who will be successful in the next world.
