ان الله لا يستحيي ان يضرب مثلا ما بعوضة فما فوقها فاما الذين امنوا فيعلمون انه الحق من ربهم واما الذين كفروا فيقولون ماذا اراد الله بهذا مثلا يضل به كثيرا ويهدي به كثيرا وما يضل به الا الفاسقين

۞ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحْىِۦٓ أَن يَضْرِبَ مَثَلًا مَّا بَعُوضَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا ۚ فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ ٱلْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ ۖ وَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ فَيَقُولُونَ مَاذَآ أَرَادَ ٱللَّهُ بِهَـٰذَا مَثَلًا ۘ يُضِلُّ بِهِۦ كَثِيرًا وَيَهْدِى بِهِۦ كَثِيرًا ۚ وَمَا يُضِلُّ بِهِۦٓ إِلَّا ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ

An analogy to appreciate and Comprehend the Glorification and Praises of All creation Toward Allah other than Mankind !

When you deeply reflect upon the Quran, many profound realities are unveiled—truths that may seem obvious once discovered, yet remain hidden to those who do not engage with it. One recurring theme in the Quran is the use of examples and analogies. These are powerful tools for bridging the gap between different levels of understanding and experience, helping us grasp realities that might otherwise be beyond our comprehension.

Consider this: How would you explain the joy of a mother whose child recovers from a life-threatening illness to a child who cannot yet grasp such emotions? You might compare it to the joy a child feels when finding a lost toy or having a beloved pet revived after being thought lost. Even then, the child may not fully comprehend the depth of the mother’s relief and gratitude. Similarly, how would you convey the experience of a professor concluding years of research? Perhaps by likening it to discovering a treasure hidden for centuries. Analogies allow us to share profound experiences with those less familiar with them.

In His infinite mercy and wisdom, Allah does not shy away from giving examples, as stated in Quran 2:26: 'Indeed, Allah is not ashamed to set forth a parable…' As the Creator, He knows the most effective way to explain the unexplainable, bringing abstract concepts closer to our understanding.

Among the hidden realities revealed in the Quran is the fact that all creation glorifies Allah. In Quran 17:44, Allah informs us that 'The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts Allah by His praise, but you do not understand their glorification.' This means that all things—animate and inanimate—attest to Allah’s perfection, extolling Him and expressing gratitude for His bounties. Mankind, however, often remains oblivious to this reality.

This inability to comprehend the glorification of other entities is not absolute. For instance, Quran 34:10 mentions how the mountains and birds joined Prophet Dawood (David) in glorifying Allah, and Prophet Sulaiman (Solomon) understood the language of animals. These examples show that Allah grants certain individuals insight into these hidden realities, revealing the interconnectedness of all creation.

The Quran continuously reminds us of signs pointing to Allah’s greatness. Quran 2:164 states that everything in the heavens and earth serves as a sign for those who reflect. The more we move closer to Allah, the more these hidden truths become evident, deepening our worship and filling it with love and gratitude.

To appreciate the glorification of all creation, imagine a person on life support. While in a coma, they are unaware of the efforts of the doctors and loved ones working tirelessly to save them. When they regain consciousness, they realize the magnitude of care and support they received and feel profound gratitude. Similarly, all creation is acutely aware of Allah’s bounties and perfection, appreciating even the air they inhale. Quran 55:29 reminds us: 'Whoever is in the heavens and earth asks Him; every day He is in [some] affair.'

Unlike mankind and jinn, who are often heedless, all other creation lives in constant awareness of Allah’s blessings, glorifying Him with heartfelt appreciation. Imagine if you were constantly aware that the oxygen reaching your lungs was a direct gift from Allah. Would you not be overwhelmed with gratitude, praising Him with every breath? This awareness makes one to worship not out of compulsion, but about heartfelt acknowledgment and love—like the gratitude of the person who survived on life support, not out of obligation but from the depths of their heart.

May we awaken from our heedlessness, appreciate Allah’s countless blessings, and glorify Him with sincerity and devotion. Alhamdulillah, for everything He provides, even when we are unaware.

This verse reminds me to 55:2. I am a teacher and I always use Ar-Rahman as a stepping stone to understand how incredible Allah is as 'a teacher'. Every single word He uses to persuade and to challenge human beings to think is overwhelmingly impressive. Looking at 2:26, to me it shows how amazing He is as a teacher. In the Quran, I find Allah always presents parables that are familiar, we can simply find it in our everyday life, that are easy to digest, and can be directly visualized as we hear it. A great teacher knows how to simplify information because the goal is not to show how much knowledge He has but to make human beings understand easily a concept or what He intends to convey so we can use our mind to think critically. This verse strongly proves that indeed He is Al-Alim (The All-Knowing One).

Oh Allah, had it not been for your Mercy and Guidance, my entire life would been spent like the people in the 2nd group mentioned in this ayah. I would have remained confused and misguided, always questioning every little matter.

Thank you, Allah, for giving us a world full of signs and guiding us to recognize the Truth.

Whether it is an ayah in the Quran or an ayah in the Universe,  whether it is a mountain, the moon, a mosquito, or a mysterious letter (muqaṭṭaʿāt) -  however big or seemingly small it may seem - may You always make us of those who believe firmly in You and may you always guide us to recognize and accept the truth.

'As for the believers, they know that it is the truth from their Lord.'

Ayat 2:26 I always wondered what Allah meant by the parable even though I believe it is true. I received a text after the start of the genocide in Gaza. It was sent by the leader of Hezbollah, Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah (Martyred in an Israeli air strike on Friday, September 27, 2024 ) asking all Muslims around the world to make dua for Palestine,  I finally decided to look it up  which guided me to your explanation. After years of wonder I finally understand the significance of this parable and the mosquito. Shukran 

Initially when I entered the fold of Islam years back by the grace of Allaah ;as and when I started reading different translations of Qur'an , I remember the first of the examples I came across was that of a fly  mentioned in aayah 73 of Surah Al Hajj  .. So I used to initiate these discussions with family to begin with ; giving this profound example ; every time amazed at the fact that Allaah used the example of something as small as a mosquito in order to draw our attention to the greater lesson .  3 years back I was even more amazed as more treasures  got unlocked before me while taking notes on this beautiful aayah 26  ;  following the Ramadan Exclusive :Surat Al Baqarah by Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan (May Allah protect him and bless him in both the worlds) ..Sharing the same here :

Yađriba Mathalāan (Striking an example) = 
i - striking/hitting something which causes the Attention of people. 
ii - Impact - the one who listens to the example has an Impact on him, just like the one who is Hit has a great Impact Effect on him.
 
'Allaah for sure is not embarassed to strike an example of a Mosquito or even something Above [Fawq] and  beyond that (in minisculeness/smallness.)' 

Why would Allaah give such examples? 

 The example given isn't always the main point, rather - the Message behind the example is even more important. 

To make that message even more clear and meaningful - Allaah will give the example of a Mosquito, or Famā Fawqahā = (anything even smaller or bigger than that). 

The teacher will use the best means to - to drive the lesson across. To understand more clearly the message being given, we see that 
this surah started off describing: 
1 - This Qur'an is a Book of Guidance. 
2 - This Qur'an is an unmatchable Miracle. 
3 - those who can't match the Qur'an want to find any excuse to reject the Qur'an. So they criticize the 
parables and examples/lessons Allaah gives. 

The disbelievers of old did this, and others of today do the same. But they don't understand Allaah's parables, and their arrogance makes them make fun of what they don't understand. 

..fa amm-aladheena aamanoo FAya'lamoona anna-hu al-Haqqu min Rabbi-him.. =
'Then as for those who believe, THEN they know that it is the Truth from their Master.. '

The FA (Then) in that part of the ayah shows that; Whenever the believers hear the Parables of Allaah, then  they Suddenly know and realize that they are the truth and from their Master (Allaah.) 

Whereas the disbelievers doubt and mock - even without wanting to understand. 

Fa amma al-ladheena kafaroo fa yaQooloona; maa dhaa araadAllahu bi HAADHA MATHALA =
'And as for those who disbelieve, then they are saying; 
What does Allaah intend by using THIS Example?' 

So the disbelievers are mocking at the signs and parables of Allaah. They are mocking at the Objects being mentioned and ignoring the message which Allah is giving. 

..yuDillu bi-hee Katheeran = He misguides with it Many
 wa yaHdee bi-hee Katheera = and He guides by it Many. 

In this context, Allaah is talking about; 
- the Qur'an 
and 
- the Parables He mentions. 

The Qur'an will guide or misguide people based on their Intentions before reading it. If they are seeking Guidance from it - Allaah will guide them. If they are seeking Criticism for it - Allaah will misguide them through it. 

..Wa maa yuDillu bi-hee il-laa al-Faasiqeen - 
And He does not misguide - except the Corrupt. 

So Allaah misguided them (the Faasiqeen) because they did not desire guidance - so they had a Corrupt intention when approaching the Qur'an. 

And Allaah knows best !!

A Promise, A Test, A Consequence
Reading Al-Baqarah (2:25-27) through the Hadith 

There is a quiet sequence in these ayahs.

You are first shown where you are being led… (2:25 - a promise)
 then how people respond along the way… (2:26 - a test) 
and finally what that response becomes over time. (2:27 - a consequence)

It begins by opening something ahead of you — not fear this time, but promise:

وَبَشِّرِ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ أَنَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ۖ كُلَّمَا رُزِقُوا مِنْهَا مِن ثَمَرَةٍ رِّزْقًا ۙ قَالُوا هَٰذَا الَّذِي رُزِقْنَا مِن قَبْلُ ۖ وَأُتُوا بِهِ مُتَشَابِهًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِيهَا أَزْوَاجٌ مُّطَهَّرَةٌ ۖ وَهُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ
“Give good news to those who believe and do righteous deeds that they will have gardens beneath which rivers flow…”(2:25)

The description feels close — almost familiar.
The people of Jannah recognize what is given to them… 
and yet it is not the same. 
As if everything they knew before was only a reflection of something greater.

And the Prophet ﷺ once described Jannah in a way that quietly shifts your sense of scale. 
He spoke about the lowest person there:
“إن أدنى أهل الجنة منزلة…”
“The lowest person in Paradise will have the equivalent of ten times the world…”
 -Sahih Muslim

If this is the lowest…
then what does that say about everything above it?

And the ayah ends with something the human experience has never truly held:
They remain there forever.
No interruption. No loss.

So if this is what awaits — something beyond loss, beyond comparison — then a question naturally follows:
Why do some people reach this… while others turn away?

The Qur’an does not answer immediately with actions.
 Instead, it draws your attention to something unexpectedly small:

إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَسْتَحْيِي أَن يَضْرِبَ مَثَلًا مَّا بَعُوضَةً فَمَا فَوْقَهَا ۚ فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا فَيَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّهِمْ ۖ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فَيَقُولُونَ مَاذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِهَٰذَا مَثَلًا…
“Indeed, Allah is not shy to present an example — even of a mosquito or what is smaller than it.
As for those who believe, they know it is the truth from their Lord.
But as for those who disbelieve, they say: ‘What did Allah mean by this example?’” (2:26)

A mosquito.
Something easy to overlook.

And historically, this mattered — because when such examples were recited, 
some people didn’t engage with the meaning. 
They reacted with dismissal: why mention something so small?

So the ayah is not just giving an example — it is responding to an attitude.

Now the focus shifts — not to what is ahead, 
but to how you receive what is in front of you.

The same example is given to everyone.
Some recognize it immediately: this is truth. 
Others hesitate: what does this even mean?

And in gatherings of the Prophet ﷺ, people came from very different worlds —
 some wealthy, some poor, some respected, some overlooked. 
It would have been easy to assume that what matters is outward: 
status, appearance, position.
So he redirected their attention completely:
“إن الله لا ينظر إلى صوركم وأموالكم ولكن ينظر إلى قلوبكم وأعمالكم.”
“Allah does not look at your appearance or your wealth, but He looks at your hearts and your actions.” -Sahih Muslim

So the difference is not in the example.
It is in the heart that receives it.
A heart that is open recognizes truth, even in something small.
 A heart that is closed turns away — even when the sign is clear.

And then another question begins to form:
If someone keeps responding this way — not once, but repeatedly —
 what does that become over time?

The Qur’an answers by no longer describing a moment… but a pattern:

الَّذِينَ يَنقُضُونَ عَهْدَ اللَّهِ مِن بَعْدِ مِيثَاقِهِ ۖ وَيَقْطَعُونَ مَا أَمَرَ اللَّهُ بِهِ أَن يُوصَلَ وَيُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ
“Those who break the covenant of Allah after it has been established, and cut what Allah has commanded to be joined, and spread corruption on the earth — it is they who are the losers.”( 2:27)

Now it becomes visible.
Not confusion — but breaking. 
Not a question — but a pattern.

And in Madinah, the Prophet ﷺ began to warn about something
 that doesn’t collapse societies all at once, but slowly — 
through people being placed where they do not belong, 
through trust being mishandled.

He said:
“إذا ضُيِّعت الأمانة فانتظر الساعة…”
“When trust is lost, then await the Hour.” -Sahih al-Bukhari

They asked him: How will it be lost?
He said: When responsibility is given to those who are not worthy of it.

So corruption does not begin in something large.
It begins when trust is taken lightly.
 When what should be upheld… is neglected. 
When what was clear… is slowly undone.
And from there, it spreads.

And now, when you look back at the beginning, 
the path becomes clear:
You were shown what awaits you. 
You were shown how people respond. 
And you were shown what that response becomes.

So the difference was never in how much was shown.
It was always in something quieter:
When something small points you to something true…
Do you recognize it?
Or do you turn away — until distance becomes loss?
