The first part of the verse tells us to eat what is good and lawful, followed by the command not to follow Satan’s footsteps, "for he is your sworn enemy.” Al-Baqarah 2:168

Whenever I read this verse, I am reminded that food gives us the energy to function, move, and live. If Allah provides us with the nourishment and strength we need, how can we use those very blessings to disobey Him? If we could calculate the energy we receive from food in c...

Bismillah.

SubhanAllah, if we were asked about the commands of the Qur’an, what would we say? We must fast, pray, donate, perform pilgrimage — and the likes. But is this verse not a clear command? Quick reflection: #joy

Waves of happiness and sadness pass through the heart everyday. But there are moments when the sadness threatens to settle in and make a home there. Isn't that the case with everyone? We start thinking "Oh but look at this problem and that problem, why shouldn't I remain sad?"

But in one moment like that today I was reminded of this ayah and the only way to describe it is being refilled from a giant fountain of pur...

When we become attached to the taste of junk, we forget the sweetness of what is pure. In the same way, when the heart is constantly fed with distractions and unhealthy habits, it forgets the sweetness of what is pure and good.

Many times we hesitate to taste something that is good, nourishing, and wholesome. But when the stomach is cleansed, and when someone gently encourages us to try something good, that very thing can become our favorite. Li...

Eat, drink and, but do not be extravagant.

Eid is a time of joy. It is a celebration of a grand achievement having completed a month of fast and having worshipped Allah with a higher level of intensity than other months. Eid is also a time of celebration, joy, food and drink. A great blessing from Allah that we often don’t ponder about, is the ability to enjoy food and drink, due to the gift of our taste buds. Of course, the primary function of ...
