Bismillah
There are moments in life when the word hijrah stops being history and becomes reality.

Not a journey of choice. A tearing away. A leaving behind.

War changes the meaning of home. One day your belongings are ordinary objects filled with memory. The next day they become things you may never touch again. Walls disappear. Familiar streets disappear. Even parts of yourself disappear.

I keep thinking about how many times the Qur’an speaks about people being driven from their homes. Prophets. Believers. Entire communities. Not because they wanted comfort elsewhere, but because staying became unbearable. Allah never describes displacement lightly. There is grief in it. Weight in it. The ache of uprooting.

Safety itself is a blessing we only fully understand after losing it.
Sometimes that verse feels painfully real. Migration does not immediately feel like relief. It feels like disorientation. Paperwork. Financial fear. Silence. Starting again in a place where nobody knows your story.

And yet the Qur’an keeps returning to one quiet promise: Allah sees the ones carrying hardship no one else fully sees.
“Indeed, with hardship comes ease.” 94:6
Not after hardship. With it.
As if Allah is saying that even inside collapse, something unseen is already being prepared.

Sometimes I think about Prophet Musa leaving Egypt with fear behind him, not knowing what waited ahead.
“So he left it, fearful and vigilant. He said, ‘My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people." 28:21

That feeling of looking over your shoulder emotionally even after arriving somewhere safe. The body arrives before the heart does.

Rebuilding is slow. Painfully slow. People see the relocation, the visas, the new city. They do not see the invisible rebuilding. Confidence. Identity. Stability. The exhaustion of starting from zero while pretending to be grateful. The humiliation of losing work you loved. The strange loneliness of carrying memories nobody around you fully understands.

But perhaps this too is part of sabr. Not passive waiting. Enduring without allowing bitterness to consume the heart.
“Allah does not burden a soul beyond what it can bear.” 2:286
Some days I hold onto that verse tightly. Other days I whisper it while wondering if I really can carry this.

I think too of the people mentioned in the Qur’an who lost security, wealth, and certainty.
“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to the patient.” 2:155

Loss is not always punishment. Sometimes it is the landscape through which faith walks.

I think of how Allah describes Himself as Al-Jabbar — the One who restores what is broken. Not only nations or buildings, but hearts. Lives. Futures that feel shattered beyond repair.

Maybe some losses are never returned in the same form. Maybe the old life is gone forever. But the Qur’an teaches that Allah can create openings from places we cannot imagine.
“And whoever fears Allah — He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect.” 65:2–3

Maybe survival itself is not a small thing.
Maybe arriving wounded and still continuing is its own form of faith.

An interesting similarity between how the Surah starts and ends. It starts with the story of Moses, where Allah swt promises in verse 7 to return him to his mother, and later after killing the soldier, Moses promises Allah that by the virtue of the blessings he gave him, he wont be an assailant to the criminals. Moses then proceeds to leave Egypt, his home, out of fear for his life.

The surah ends by Allah swt promising the Prophet Mohammad SAW that he will return to his land, Mecca , after having left it for the same reason Moses left egypt, for the threat against his life.  That was the same way he promised the mother of Moses earlier in the surah he will be returned to her, and interestingly  the same verbal noun راد is used in both instances. In addition,   Allah reminds the Prophet saw of the blessing of the Quran and warns him against being an assailant to the disbelivers, as Moses did earlier in the story.

The way the story lessons as summed up for the prophets Mohammad saw at the end is truly amazing.

And lets not forget the promise in the old testament , Deuteonomy 18:18,  that God will send a Prophet who will be like Moses AS.

Prophets of Allah portrayed such a beautiful character even amidst chaos. They too had anxieties and they too went through fearful situations that could potentially cause them to panic but their response to these emotionally charged situations was very unique. During the most vulnerable states in their lives, their feelings didn't overpower them to end up disappointed, rather they processed their pain in such a way that it only increased their ranks more and drove them even closer to Allah SWT. No amount of pain could fade their reliance on Allah. With every difficulty, their faith in Allah grew stronger and that's why they turned to Him right away whenever struck with an affliction and it always worked for them, we can see throughout the Quran. In ease and in hardship, Allah was their first resort.

Moses expressed fear as we all do, but he has prayers and trust in Allah which most of us lack.

Musa is often described as having wisdom and knowledge and wisdom and strength. Knowledge is content of thought. Wisdom is knowing when and how to best exercise it. Some scholars say it is also a reference to the age of prophethood, which is 40. A neurological fun fact is 40 is when the brain typically reaches its maximum before beginning to lose mass.
In this situation, Musa AS jumped to conclusions because of his love for justice and this conclusion led to the death of the person. We see a similar situation between Musa and al-Khidhr in surat kahf.

This is a reminder to us that things are not always what it seems. 
Note the repentance of Musa. It is very similar to the repentance of Adam. This is the sunnah of repentance. 
The story goes that the same one whom Musa defended called out for Musa's help again with malintent. Musa called out his transgression and the man exposed what had happened the day before. And that people will bite the hand that feeds them.
Scholars say that this was what exposed Musa leading to the news getting to the guards and eventually looking for him. He left to Madyan for safety, the land of prophet Shuayb. Scholars say he had left either with no money/preparations and/or not knowing how to get there and hoping Allah would lead him toward the correct path. This reminds me of the experience of Abu Bakr and Muhammad SAW leaving the ghar thawr with hope in Allah's protection while Quraiysh planned to kill the prophet SAW.
