واذا قرئ القران فاستمعوا له وانصتوا لعلكم ترحمون

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ فَٱسْتَمِعُوا۟ لَهُۥ وَأَنصِتُوا۟ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ

In Ramadan, the recitation of the Quran was something that brought calm and peace to our hearts especially through listening to it with intent. Oftentimes, we may multi-task say in the kitchen or whilst driving or similar chores. Listening to the Quran, brings not only barakah in these moments, but it is one of the most convenient ways to earn Allah's mercy, forgiveness and reward. 

Imam Ibn Al Kathir comments regarding the verse 204 of Surah Al-A'raaf:

'When Allah the Exalted mentioned that the Qur'an is a source of insight for people, and a guidance and mercy, He then commanded that it be listened to attentively during its recitation—out of reverence and respect for it.' He further adds that Imam Ahmad reported: Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever listens to a verse from the Book of Allah, a multiplied reward will be written for him. And whoever recites it, it will be a light for him on the Day of Judgment.' (Musnad of Imam Ahmad)

May Allah enable for us to remain attuned to listening to the Quran throughout the year. Amen

Alhamdulillah in 1990 I did Hajj and in December 2024 two months ago Alhamdulillah I went for Umrah
When I went for Hajj in 1990 I did not understand the Quran and could not make anything of what was recited besides the very basic things that almost every Muslim knows.
With the Grace of Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala In the year 2016 I took online Quranic Arabic course with Bayyinah Institute and 2 year later I moved from Tanzania (my home country) to Cape Town to continue my Quranic Arabic course at Dar Un Naim Institute. After that I continued / started my journey of the Quran Alhamdulillah 
When I was in Makkah last two months standing in front of the Ka’aba hearing the Quran being recited during Maghrib, Ish’a and Fajr prayer, me being able to understand each and every word, was an experience that I can not explain. Alhamdulillah, this such a huge blessing from Allah to me
I can not thank Allah enough to have chosen me and make me learn and understand the Quran. May Allah also reward them beautifully, all the teachers and all who facilitated my study of the Quran.
Brothers and sisters if Shaytaan sees that you want to start learning the Quran, he strikes very hard

When I don't post anything here for a few days, I feel something missing, writing here makes me notice the world around me. While reading your reflections, I am forced to think more, to notice more. Though, I share what I've learned from teachers and my own experience. This place feels securer than any other platforms. Why? Well for me the answer is that people here are connected or trying to make connection with Quran, encouraging each other to make strong grip on the rope of Allah. 
It's not the beauty of people of this community, it's the beauty of Quran. 
Every day, Allah shows me a new reason that why Quran is the only refuge. While hearing people's talks, noticing their behaviours, seeing the injustice, I feel the severe need of correct connection with Quran in people's life. No matter how much messy life gets, at the end of the day your refuge is Quran. Speaking this with experience that no matter how much pious you try to become, how much Quran you memorize or even take tafseer class, read Hadith, you are incomplete if there are walls between your heart and the Quran. Few days ago, I went to market, when I entered in a shop, the shopkeeper was listening to Quran, I appreciated it, but I realized that Quran's recitation isn't something you can play while doing the work which requires your focus because Allah clearly says that 'When the Quran is recited, listen to it attentively and be silent, so you may be shown mercy.' (7:204). And then the shopkeeper looked at the print of our cloth, there was like a crucifix print, of course the ✝ is such an ordinary pattern, but the shopkeeper was convinced that this was a crucifix, and It's printed in clothes to disrespect Islam, he also said a really bad word about the designer who designed that while recitation was being played. (Please let me know if I should not have shared this)I don't want to do his geebah but trying to highlight that if our love of deen isn't guided, that love might get us into trouble. This was just one example, I've seen many other too. 
The 'guidance' is given by Quran, only Quran. I read a book of seerah when I wasn't this much devoted student of Quran, and now I am reading another book of seerah, with a little bit of connection with Quran and trust me it hits different. It's really different when you see it all in the light of Quran, even the Seerah.  You are nothing without the guidance. Remember, when Allah guides you, you can never be misguided.
May Allah make us among those who love His book, ponder on His words and who are truly guided.

خدا تجھے کسی طوفاں سے آشنا کر دے
کہ تیرے بحر کی موجوں میں اضطراب نہیں
God bring you acquainted with some storm!
No billow in your sea break in foam,
تجھے کتاب سے ممکن نہیں فراغ کہ تو
کتاب خواں ہے مگر صاحب کتاب نہیں
And never from books can you be weaned
Which you declaim, not comprehend.

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Assalamualaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu 

Aren't you guilty of not understanding the Qur'an which we include in prayers?

In my recent Umrah trip to the two Holy mosques I would hear people cry during certain verses in Solah. 
Perhaps they are pondering through the recitation, their hearts are awakened.  

Are we deserving of the mercy as mentioned in the highlighted verse 7:204 ??

Perhaps the amount of mercy that we receive is directly proportional to our ability to ponder and act upon those verses. We should give importance to nurturing our relationships with the Qur'an.
We don't want to be in a position where the Qur'an is recited and we cannot process it. The worst example of this is a hypocrite who hears the Qur'an from the outside but cannot process it from the inside .

May Allah SWT grant us to please HIM through the Qur'an

Hadith reference 
The Prophet (SAW) said to Abdullah ibn Masood: 'Recite for me the Qur’an.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Should I recite to you and it was revealed to you?' He said: 'Yes, for I like to hear it from others.' 'I recited Surat an-Nisaa’ until I reached the ayah, 'How (will it be) then, when We bring from each nation a witness and We bring you (O Muhammad) as a witness against these people?' [An-Nisaa’ 4:41] He then said: 'Stop now.' I found that his eyes were tearful.' [Al Bukhari and Muslim]

I think this line of the episode strikes deeply: 
'Don't give Allah the leftover scraps of your time.'

Choose the best part of your day for the Quran - when you are most alert and engaged - perhaps the time you would normally dedicate as 'me time,' or for self-care.  

I also remind myself that more I have to do that day, the longer my to-do list, the more rewarding the time I carve out for the Quran will be. Allah knows the ins and outs of our schedule and all of the competing claims on our attention - we can show our love for Him by giving His book the best part of our day.

The more you give to Quran, the more it will give to you. The more time, presence you give, the more enlightening and guidance it gives to you.
