Bismillah,

I read the word 'Husban' and try to understand it.
It begins softly. Almost beautifully.
The sun moves. The moon follows.
Nothing slips. Nothing hesitates.
Everything arrives on time.
I tell myself this is order.
This is balance.
This is the quiet architecture of the world.

But the word does not stay there.
It follows me into Surah Al-Kahf.
There it falls from the sky.
Not as light, but as ending.
A garden stands full, certain of itself.
And then it is struck. Completely.
Not randomly. Not vaguely.
With precision.

I begin to feel the root beneath it.
H-s-b.
To count.
To account.
To weigh.
To suffice.
To judge.

All these meanings are the stages of the same truth.

Everything is measured.
Everything is recorded.
And then, everything answers.

And I begin to feel exposed.
I move as if I am uncounted.
As if my hours dissolve.
As if my words fall and vanish.
But they don’t.
They remain.
That is where the fear begins.
Not fear of chaos.
But fear of precision and accountability.

And yet, the word does not leave me there.
From the same root comes something else.
Hasbiya Allah.
Enough for me.
Sufficient.

As if the same حساب that will one day confront me
is also what holds me together now.

My son was getting ready for school this morning and we were discussing time. He asked me, 'How many seconds are in a year?' And I said, 'I don't know, but we can calculate it.' and then I thought of this ayah. How amazing is it that we can calculate the number of seconds in a year to such precision?  Subhan Allah.

(PS: The answer is: 31,536,000 seconds in a solar year ☀️⌚🙂)

Profound Sign  from Sun & Moon.

To see sun and moon at the same time is not something new. It happens in the early hours of day when the sun starts rising. The same moon which was ruling the night with its majestic beauty looks fade and feeble,not mesmerizing anymore.

What is the sign in it?

As I begin to think why Allah says there's sign in them.
NAK's brief explanation of  surah Shams helped me understand better.
In surah Shams Allah swears by sun and moon,day and night and then swears by the human self and how it has been instilled with the ability to sense right and wrong.

It's interconnected  to the concept of  using 'dramas' and 'movies'  to  promote islam today.

 I am not against the use of media (the concept of illustrating the ayahs are very cool! small videos that really keep you intact ,short reminders and all that)

Let's take the example of  Ertugrul- the  Turkish drama very much praised by many muslims and non muslims for the fact how it portrayed the bravery , manners and some islamic concept)

Getting back to Surah Shams
 وشمس وضہھا
' By the sun and its light with which it  illuminates the world.'

Here Allah is talking about the sun ,moon ,day andnight and then He swears by himself and by the Nafs,saying He inspired the Nafs with the علم of right and wrong.

There must be a relatiom.
The guidance of Allah i.e  Quran is metaphorically called the sun. It has come down to illuminate  the world. As Quran Says itself that its  ھدی الناس 
 Guidance for the people.
والقمر  اذا تلہا
And by the moon when it follows it.
Moon is dependent at Sun to appear as majestic beauty. But the moon is somehow dodging the poets and lovers.
Its a piece of rock ,illuminated by the sun.
Why the general inclination of  emotions is towards the moon and not the sun? The  idea of life without sun.

Because sun is an indication  for collecting yourself for a long day and Quran is an alarm to wake up and work for the hereafter.
 
The moon though it gets the light from sun ,still can't provide that  which Allah has commanded  the sun to.
Similarly,
The dramas and movies labelled as an approach to 'promote islam' can never serve the real purpose.
In fact, they are wastage of time
I cant make my Iman grow high by watching such dramas. 


The Islam presented in these dramas is equal to the light of moon. While the sun illuminates even darkest of the rooms ,the full moon cant even reach the corners.
That's the difference.

Someone who develops an approach to understand islam through movies and dramas is actually conveying,
'Why cant moonlight make the plants  grow? Doesnt it gets  the light from  sun?'


Reflecting on The quran, sitting with the people of  Quran and practicing it is what gives life to heart.

May Allah make us اہل القرآن
May Quran becomes a witness  for us at
یوم القیامة

If you ever sense that the praise of people is changing your heart, ponder over the moon: It has been worshipped as an idol by many, but it continues on its course, day after day, year after year, century after century at the command of its Lord, not deviating by an inch.

Being worshipped didn't change it. Being split in two didn't destroy it. People not acknowledging that it was split in two didn't make a difference. Nothing took it off of its course.

It continues to be in full submission to the Lord's command and will continue to do so until the end of its existence. 

May Allah keep us firmly guided on the straight path and never let us go astray. Ameen.

Ayahs 5 - 6 of Surah Ar-Rahman pull me out of the illusion that life is random and self-directed. The sun and the moon do not hesitate, improvise, or drift. They move with precision, exactly as they are meant to. That image unsettles me a little, because it exposes how often I live the opposite way: reactive, rushed, and sometimes careless with time, commitments, and intention. The ayah is not asking me to become mechanical, but it is asking me to become intentional. To do things on time, to honor responsibilities properly, and to bring order to what I can control. There is a kind of worship in precision, in showing up when I should, in completing what I begin, and in treating time as something entrusted rather than something to waste (we are all aware of how easily we can waste hours doom scrolling, I am sure!).

At the same time, the precision of the sun and moon teaches me to trust what I cannot control. Their movement is fixed, reliable, and sustained without my awareness or effort. That steadiness is a quiet reassurance that Allah’s system is not fragile. When things in my life feel delayed, disordered, or unclear, it does not mean they are outside of that same precise care. It means my perspective is limited. Part of living this ayah is learning to act with discipline in what is mine and to release anxiety over what is not. To trust Ar-Razzaq that whatever was meant for me will not deviate from me.

The next ayah shifts me further. The stars and the trees prostrate, and I do not know how. That gap in understanding is important. It reminds me that reality is larger than what I can explain. Submission is not always visible, verbal, or human in form. Everything in creation is already aligned with Allah’s will, fulfilling its purpose without resistance. I am the one who can step out of alignment.

This reframes what submission means for me. It is no longer only a set of visible acts, but a deeper orientation. Am I moving with what I was created for or against it? The trees do not struggle to be trees. The stars do not question their path. Yet I hesitate, delay, resist, and negotiate. These ayahs quietly confront that resistance. If everything else submits without choice, then my ability to choose submission should not be a burden. It should be an honor and a responsibility.

There is also a lesson about balance and limits. The sun and moon do not exceed their bounds, and the trees and stars remain within their nature. Nothing tries to be more than it is meant to be. In my life, imbalance often comes from going beyond what is healthy, necessary, or appropriate. Overworking, overthinking, overcommitting. These ayahs invite me back to measure, to recognize that staying within limits is not restriction but stability.

Taken together, these two ayat call me to a different way of living. To act with care and discipline, to trust with patience, to submit with awareness, and to remain within the balance set for me.

The universe is already in sujud. The question is whether I am willing to join it, not only in moments of prayer but also in the way I move through my life.

When we look up at the sky we can't just turn out eyes away from the vast and intricate design of Allah’s creation. The sun rises and sets, the moon goes through phases, and the stars move across the sky, each following a perfect, purposeful path. 

An orbit, in simple terms, is a circular path of motion that something follows as it moves around a center, like the Earth around the Sun and the moon around the Earth.
The celestial bodies either float gracefully or struggle against cosmic forces, but both movements are in perfect harmony with Allah’s plan. 
What caught my attention was the choice of the word *yasbahūn* (يَسْبَحُونَ), meaning 'to float' or 'swim,' which suggests motion with ease, or against some resistance in case of swimming . The verse  highlights how the sun, moon, and stars are constantly in motion, 
Sabaha is to move and Sabbih is to glorify both having same root words.
We know all the creation in the space matter is glorifying Allah with their existence. 

The thing to note is alike  the celestial bodies, our lives are also full of movement, either days of floating (ease), or swimming(struggles). 

we are alike these creations of Allah. We are in the same class that is a' Creation' of the Creator.
So similar to them we too circle around, revolve around in an orbit.
The key lies in what we orbit around. If we center our lives on Allah, our orbit(life course)becomes purposeful and steady. 

If Earth suddenly lost its orbit, it would plummet towards the Sun, and the consequences would be catastrophic, with a rapid and violent end to life on Earth.
If the sun or moon loses its orbit it will loose its existence too.
Likewise, if we shift our focus to worldly distractions, we risk losing our way. The beautiful thing is that, like the sun and moon, our ultimate purpose is to glorify Allah, whether in ease or difficulty, because our lives revolve around Him, the center of our existence.
And if we loose this orbit we ll loose our purpose of existence.

So, this verse doesn't only talks about the sun and the moon but it also talks about us.

Subhannallah, subhannallah ya rabb 🤲😭 ya Allah how beautiful is the guidance you have sent us yet we get too distracted with our daily lives to ponder on your precious words and meanings to our daily lives. I get very emotional hearing and reciting the Quran, and now being part of this blessed gathering I'll be able to learn and reflect on the blessed meanings of the the message to all of mankind, I am forever grateful, jazakallah khayran katheeran for sharing 🤲 may Allah bless you and elevate you immensely 

My chemistry teacher, she did her best. Even though I was very good with maths but I never understand chemistry equations. It just never make sense to me, to whom the C, the H and the O wish to form or to split. It’s just confusing to me. 

And I thought life was like that as well. I never understood why things happens and why it did not happen either until I put Allah in every equation. Then it kinda makes perfect sense, cause Allah is the balance of the equation. 

A man might ask, why I have to go through this hardship? I have always been good to everyone. 

That on it’s own, it doesn’t make sense. But when you put Allah in equation, it makes sense. 

Precisely because you always has been good to people, that Allah wants to raise your status and rewards you, that He gave you hardship, so that you can practise patience and being grateful to Him. 

If you don’t put Allah in the equation, it will be a simply unjust situation. Wa allahu alam.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Gracious,

Allah the Almighty starts with this beautiful Surah with His attribute and Name ‘Ar Rahman’ and then in the ayats afterwards He gives the reader examples of His Mercy and Kindness. The very first one Allah the Most Gracious has mentioned is the ‘Qur’an’.

The Qur’an is the greatest mercy upon mankind. It contains 'all that is good and deters against all that is evil' (Tafsir As sa’di pg 371). Surely the greatest blessing deserves our time, contemplation and action.  

The Qur’an is not to be taken from the shelf once in a while, it should be recited and reflected upon if possible daily especially with the Qur’an at our fingertips even if it is only an ayah per day. For the Qur’an guides to all that is good and upright and ‘deters’ evil.  The Qur’an is also a protection in this world and in the coming stages of our existence. 

So we must give the Qur’an it’s true respect and we must be in constant gratitude for Allah’s mercy and love letter to each and everyone of us.

Action - schedule more time for the Qur’an and contemplate how we can apply the Qur’an.
