واستبقا الباب وقدت قميصه من دبر والفيا سيدها لدى الباب قالت ما جزاء من اراد باهلك سوءا الا ان يسجن او عذاب اليم

وَٱسْتَبَقَا ٱلْبَابَ وَقَدَّتْ قَمِيصَهُۥ مِن دُبُرٍ وَأَلْفَيَا سَيِّدَهَا لَدَا ٱلْبَابِ ۚ قَالَتْ مَا جَزَآءُ مَنْ أَرَادَ بِأَهْلِكَ سُوٓءًا إِلَّآ أَن يُسْجَنَ أَوْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

حضرت یوسفؑ دوڑ پڑے — گناہ کی طرف نہیں، بلکہ اس سے بچنے کے لیے۔
 جب کوئی فتنے کا وقت ہو تو دلیل نہ دو، وہاں سے بھاگ جاؤ۔ بھاگنا کمزوری نہیں، عقل ہے۔

قمیص پیچھے سے پھٹی — اللہ نے سچ کو ظاہر کرنے کا ذریعہ بنایا۔
پیچھے سے قمیص کا پھٹنا ثبوت ہے کہ حضرت یوسفؑ فرار ہو رہے تھے۔ یہ سبق ہے کہ اگر آپ مخلص ہیں، تو اللہ سچ کو ظاہر کر دیتا ہے۔

اس نے فوراً جھوٹ گھڑ لیا — مظلوم کو مجرم بنا دیا۔
وہ کہتی ہے کہ یوسفؑ نے مجھ پر برا ارادہ کیا۔ طاقت والے لوگ سچ کو دبا سکتے ہیں، لیکن ہمیشہ کے لیے نہیں۔

اللہ سچ کو ظاہر کرتا ہے — بعض اوقات ایک چھوٹے سے اشارے سے۔
جیسے پھٹی ہوئی قمیص، یا دروازے پر شوہر کا آ جانا — یہ سب اللہ کا پلان ہوتا ہے۔
'When you are wrongfully accused, don’t panic — Allah is the best witness. Keep your heart clean, and the truth will defend you even when your voice can’t.'

جزاکِ اللہ خیراً! آپ کی حوصلہ افزائی دل کو خوشی دیتی ہے۔ واقعی قرآن ہمیں زندگی کے ہر موڑ پر رہنمائی دیتا ہے۔ دعا ہے کہ اللہ ہمیں حضرت یوسفؑ جیسے صبر، حکمت اور پاکیزگی عطا فرمائے۔ آمین۔

Two keys can turn in the same lock; one to open, one to jam it shut. 
But from the outside, the motion is identical.
This verse gestures towards something similar and it gave me a lesson that I usually would miss. It places the Prophet and the sinner in the same verb. 
They both ran. 
It is the same motion. 
With the same urgency. 
Towards the same door. 
From the outside, you could not tell who was running towards obedience and who was running away from His obedience. The difference was not in the direction of the feet, but in an intention that could not be seen. 

One ran to escape sin. The other ran to rewrite sin into something permissible. And this is terrifying because externally, sometimes righteousness and evil can look identical while moving. 

And the Qur'an did not rush to separate them in the same verse. It lets the ambiguity exist for a moment.
It doesn't say "Yusuf, the righteous, fled while she, corrupted, pursued." 

It just says: they raced. The moral clarification comes later, through what unfolds.  As if to  teach us something that we usually miss.

And even before that: Iblis and Adam in the same Jannah. They were sent down from the same heaven to the same Earth. It was the same nearness. 
It was almost the same descent to the same Earth. 
The same command. 
Yet intention split their paths. 
One fall became a return. The other became a refusal. 
The difference was not in where they were sent, but in what they carried within themselves.
And that is the most unsettling truth of all: The same action can become obedience or rebellion, a step toward Jannah or a quiet walk away from it; depending entirely on the intention it conceals.
And if it were not for Allah, no one could tell by action alone who was righteous and who was corrupt.
So why did the Qur'an not rush to clarify? Why place both in the same motion, then delay the separation?
Perhaps to say: "Do not judge motion, but examine what intention hides within your own heart."
Perhaps because our purpose is never about identifying the evil or the good in others.
Perhaps it is about humbling us, by letting us know that we are not given access to the inner ledger of anyone's heart.
Identical movements can conceal opposite allegiances. 
And we, standing on the same line of sight, can never judge, but the One above, who sees everything, can. And so judgment is withheld from creation and reserved for the One who sees intention before it becomes action.
The Qur'an pauses, maybe, so that we learn to pause too.  And learn to stop naming heroes and villains too quickly, to stop mistaking motion for righteousness or evil unless specified. And to return the question of who is who to the only One who never confuses the run with the reason for it.

وَٱسْتَبَقَا ٱلْبَابَ
And they both raced to the door.. (12:25)

At first glance, this may seem like a mere physical action, yet the intentions behind it could not have been more different. Yusuf (alai) sprinted toward the door in a desperate attempt to escape sin. Meanwhile, the wife of Al-Aziz pursued the very same door, but her chase was driven by desire and deception.

This stark contrast serves as a profound reminder: while outward actions may mirror one another, it is the sincerity of intention that defines their true worth. What truly matters is the state of the heart.

The Quran is filled with wisdom, if only we take the time to reflect. Imagine the transformation of our hearts if we not only recite the words of Allah but internalise its meanings. The Quran should not merely be a series of utterances upon our tongues; it should permeate our hearts and shape our lives.

May Allah make His words the anchor of our souls and the center of our hearts. آمين 

آمين  ✨. Wa iyyākum, may Allah make the Quran a light in our hearts and a compass in our lives.

And they both raced to the door, and she tore his shirt from the back, and they found her husband at the door. She said, 'What is the recompense of one who intended evil for your wife, but that he be imprisoned or a painful punishment?' 12:25

Yusuf (AS) knew that the door before him was firmly shut, yet he ran toward it with unshakable trust in Allah—and by His command, those very doors were opened. Likewise, Musa (alaihi salam) advanced toward the seemingly insurmountable sea, and Allah parted it for him, creating a passage where none seemed to exist. 

So, even if every door in this world appears sealed, press forward with firm faith, for the Lord of Yusuf (alai) and Musa (alai) is your Lord too — capable of opening paths you cannot yet imagine 🤍

May Allah, the One who opened the doors for Yusuf (alai) and parted the sea for Musa (alai), open paths for you where you see none, and grant you strength, ease, and guidance in every step 🌹. آمين

When I read this ayah (12:25), I imagine two people running towards a door.  Isn't it interesting that in the same room, one person is running towards sin and another person is running away from it? One is striving to keep the door of escape closed, another is striving to open that door and escape. 

This ayah also makes me think about how the shaytan and the nafs are always running after us. Yusuf's (a) example teaches us that we must run away from sin without hesitation. This is very different from the approach of his brothers, who decided that they would commit a sin and repent later on. 

May Allah make us of those who run away from sin without hesitation. May Allah open the doors of escape and make it easy for us to leave sin, even when it feels like we are being chased down by it.

Ehsanullah Majroh ameen. Ameen. And you as well. Ameen 🤲

We often become so focused on our problems that we fail to envision the solution. But Allah, the best of planners, Al Hakeem (the wise) and Al-Qadir (the All-Powerful), is in control. Everything we plan, either succeed or failed is according to His will, and He knows both our successes and our failures. Even after countless efforts, when we feel trapped in the depths of our problems, like sinking deeper into quicksand, we must remember that the path we are on is leading us towards the solution. We may sometimes walk, crawl, or run down this road, often with tears and heartache, but we are moving forward.

Take comfort in the reminders from Allah’s help 

How He saved Ibrahim a.s. from the fire,
How He cleared Yusuf a.s. of false accusations,
 How He save Musa as from firon 
How He protected the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in the cave of Thawr.

Allah says in the Qur’an about this moment in the cave:

'If you do not help him (Muhammad), Allah has already helped him when those who disbelieved had driven him out, and he was the second of two. When they were in the cave, he said to his companion, 'Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us.' And Allah sent down His tranquility upon him and supported him with soldiers you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allah - that is the highest. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.'
[Al-Tawbah 9:40]

This verse vividly describes how, even when the Prophet (PBUH) and Abu Bakr (RA) faced danger, Allah's help arrived, bringing peace and support.
