وَمَا
كَانَ
ٱلنَّاسُ
إِلَّآ
أُمَّةٗ
وَٰحِدَةٗ
فَٱخۡتَلَفُواْۚ
وَلَوۡلَا
كَلِمَةٞ
سَبَقَتۡ
مِن
رَّبِّكَ
لَقُضِيَ
بَيۡنَهُمۡ
فِيمَا
فِيهِ
يَخۡتَلِفُونَ

İnsanlar, önceden, tek bir ümmetten başka bir şey değildiler; fakat sonradan ayrılığa düştüler. Eğer Rabbin tarafından (azabın ertelenmesi ile ilgili) bir söz (ezelî bir takdir) geçmemiş olsaydı, ayrılığa düştükleri konuda hemen aralarında hüküm verilirdi (Derhal azap iner ve işleri bitirilirdi).
