‎ ‎ ﷽ 

لِإِيلَـٰفِ قُرَيْشٍ  
For the convenience of the Quraysh

In this Surah, Allah reminds the Quraysh of the favors He has bestowed upon them for their comfort and safety. He points out that, because of these provisions and ease, they should worship the Lord of this House (the Ka’bah). As I studied this Surah, I asked myself: What conveniences has Allah created for me? The answer was simple. He has granted me countless blessings—food, drink, health, a functioning body, a home, and family. I was able to get an education, and Allah opened doors for me that many others may not have access to. In short, He has provided me with all kinds of blessings and made life easier for me. So, what should I do in return?

‎فَلْيَعْبُدُوا۟ رَبَّ هَـٰذَا ٱلْبَيْتِ
Then let them worship the Lord of this House.

At the very least, I should worship Him as He deserves. I should live a life in accordance with His commandments, not in opposition to His teachings. In today’s world, practicing Islam may sometimes seem odd or strange, and at times, we may feel lazy. But we should always remember what Allah has done for us and fulfill our obligations toward Him. If we become heedless of His blessings, we are only wronging ourselves. And Allah can replace us with others who will worship Him and show gratitude for His favors.


Some scholars have looked at these two surahs as being connected in meaning, as if Allah is saying 'he caused them (Army of Abraha) to be like chewed up straw - for the security of Quraish'
