The fact that Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) created us from clay, and that to it we shall return, is among the beauties of His words. He enabled generations to come into existence from nothing more than a sticky liquid and an egg, both invisible to the naked eye. From a small clot of blood, this intricate and complex creation was formed.

Yet science calls it a mere coincidence.

Do you truly believe that a mouth that chews, a stomach that digests, nerves and a brain that function in harmony, a heart that beats tirelessly without a second of rest, and blood that flows throughout the entire body are all products of coincidence? Imagine if the placement of the eyes and nose were exchanged—how much of our daily lives would be affected?

Allah created us in perfection. He blessed us with hearing, intellect, sight, talents, emotions, and countless other gifts. Yet humankind remains ungrateful. We become so consumed by the illusion that we are above everyone else that we forget to thank Allah for what He has given us—blessings we never even asked for, yet received in abundance.

Such is the mercy of our Creator, and such is the heedlessness of mankind.

Allah bless you with deep understanding of Quran 

When you're feeling sad, maybe because other people are not understanding you, you might automatically start remembering someone who has been very understanding and compassionate with you, especially in a difficult time. And that person will stay close to your heart forever.


But here in Surah Ad-Dhuha, we and the Messenger of Allah (AS) are being told who it is that we should remember the most: it is Allah SWT, the One who is closer to us than our own jugular veins, and His innumerable blessings upon us. When the Prophet was in an emotionally low state, Allah dropped these empowering verses into the Prophet's heart.


The verses came to his heart like the warmth of the morning sun, like the silent and tranquil nature of the night when it is very still. Allah SWT says:


'By the morning sunlight, and the night when it falls still! Your Lord (O Prophet) has not abandoned you, nor has He become hateful of you. And the next life is certainly far better for you than this one. And surely your Lord will give so much to you that you will be pleased.' (93:1-5)


And then Allah reminds him, 'Did He not find you as an orphan then shelter you? Did He not find you unguided then guide you? And did He not find you needy then satisfied your needs? So do not oppress the orphan, nor repulse the beggar.' (93:6-10)


Similarly, Allah reminds us in various ways that even we ourselves started off very weak and helpless inside our mothers' wombs. He created us from earthly and humbled substances such as dust, clay, and a mingled sperm-drop. But then He gave us hearing, sight, hearts, and everything else that we need: 'And He gave you hearing, sight, and intellect. Yet you hardly give any thanks' (32:9).


So likewise, for all the people in Gaza who are facing a very cruel level of violence and oppression, Surah Ad-Duha is a reminder that Allah is only preparing them for a much bigger and a better change, which will come according to His own timing and His own way. They will not be in the same state as they are in now.


They are going through a heart-wrenching situation. But still, they are patient. And still, they are grateful that the enemy hasn't shaken nor weakened their faith. Their gratitude is their light, and the darkness of the evil ones is nothing but a passing event that will go down in history as a complete failure.


And therefore, in the different examples that I have mentioned above, the idea of being 'poor,' 'weak,' 'deprived,' or 'oppressed' is oftentimes 'paradoxical' - almost false even - because it is through these states that Allah enables the most profound types of growth and empowerment, so that we are grateful to Him.


And so Allah concludes the Surah by saying, 'And proclaim the blessings of your Lord' (93:11).

Allah said in these verses that He made us from nothing and perfected us by giving us life (roh). Indeed, Allah is the Most Almighty. 

Our creation is far from perfect. Even humans may have ‘corrected’ his so-called piece of art, there will always be flaw, malfunction and error. But, Allah had created everything that is well suited for His servants. He gave us eyes to see, an ear to listen and intellect for us to think. If we did not use it to the fullest (towards seeking His Pleasure), we are considered ungrateful. After reading similar messages about using Allah's gifts wisely multiple times, I always think to myself that this must be Allah's way of reminding my careless self. I know that I didn’t worship and feeling grateful enough towards Him. A teacher of mine once said that we must never be satisfied with the things we do. In this sense, there is no way for me to feel I’ve done enough. Listening to the stories of Rasulullah praying and cries his eyes out worshipping Allah always strikes me as His lowly servant. May Allah forgive us all.

The way this verse in Surah As-Sajda is worded is striking.

Who has perfected everything He created. A human being talking would follow this phrase with a description of the highlights and finest points of the object in question. For example, the human mind, the hearing, sight, and so on.

But instead, in these verses, the fine points come later.

Allah swt starts to describe the perfection of creation with something that is insignificant and humble and imperfect in our sights.

The contradiction makes us pause. And think why.

As someone reflecting on a verse in Surah Al-Anam once said: this is something only The Creator would say

That's so true! A human being would never talk about the perfection of his or her work and follow it up with qualities that seem so insignificant! I think about someone being on a job interview and doing that and failing miserably. Your reflection reminds me that Allah is surely free from all wants and needs!
