أَصْحَابُ الأَيْكَةِ
asḥābu l-aykati
“The people of the thicket”
In this reading, the second, annexed word is an ordinary noun.
أَصْحَابُ لَيْكَةَ
asḥābu laykata
“The people of Laykah”
Here, the annexed word is read as a proper noun, so it is a diptote.

Maelezo

These readings provide alternative descriptions of the people of Madyan to whom Prophet Shu'ayb was sent (see also 26:176, which has both readings; the Readers agree upon al-aykah in 15:78, 50:14). The spelling is more indicative of the second reading, but the first is based on taking the alif and hamzah as implied.

He has revealed to you ˹O Prophet˺ the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, as He revealed the Torah and the Gospel
