He created humankind from ˹sounding˺ clay like pottery...

I'm fortunate to live near a river, where its banks yield this very clay when the water recedes. You'll find its fragments there - some larger, interconnected, others separate. For me, it's a fascination, a reflection of my own creation.

Now, let me share some observations about this clay. It appears hard but crumbles under slight pressure. Step on it, and it cracks. Apply a bit more force, and it produces a cracking sound - a breaking voice,  just like the breaking clay.
We humans seem powerful, boastful, and self-aggrandizing. Just as the fragile clay succumbs to pressure.  when life's pressures mount - illness, separation, sorrow, or hardship - our facade shatters. We break and scatter.  We too crumble under Satan's onslaught, unable to withstand the strain. Our boasts and defenses lie shattered, leaving us vulnerable to devil' whispers.

Our brittle nature, like the breaking clay, requires restoration. our fragmented selves need rejuvenation. The shattered pieces must be gently mended with divine nourishment. Over time, our inner structure will regain its strength. 

Do you know what reunites those scattered clay fragments? Water.
Similarly, we need the same rejuvenating substance. Where will this revitalizing water come from? From the same Essence who breathes life into barren lands.

I'll leave you with the following Hadith highlighting the downpour of that revitalizing water.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rain water and Allah benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for cultivation. (And) a portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation (then that land gave no benefits). The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah's religion and gets benefit (from the knowledge) which Allah has revealed through me (the Prophets and learns and then teaches others. The last example is that of a person who does not care for it and does not take Allah's guidance revealed through me (He is like that barren land.)' 
[Sahih Al-Bukhari 79, Book 3 Hadith 21]

May Allah SWT guide us to absorb this rejuvenating water and revitalize our scrambled beings

Inverted Vessels

We use clay pots for cooking. My mom always reminds us to wash and invert them on the shelf after use, lest any harmful  or toxic pests crawl in and leave their venomous residue, making them irreversibly contaminated.
This morning, gazing at that inverted pot on the shelf, I pondered my own creation. We, too, are fragile vessels, made of clay. If the winds of time – satanic whispers, trials, and tribulations – seep into us, we become infected.
That's why our Lord has commanded us to prostrate ourselves repeatedly, turning our faces away from the tempests of this world and towards His sanctuary, ensuring we remain untainted & uninfected.

Though clay pots can't be disinfected, our Self-Sufficient Lord has provided numerous ways to purify us, including:
°- Sujud (prostration), the greatest and most exalted path
°- Istighfar (seeking forgiveness)
°- Dhikr (remembrance of Allah)
We mustn't expose our vessels (chests) to the world for too long, lest they become vulnerable to the poison of disbelief, which can't be cleansed.

As conveyed in the following verse, Allah Almighty encouraged His beloved Prophet (peace be upon him) and through him to us, to disregard worldly distractions, whispers, and temptations, protecting himself from their corrupting influence through prostration.

In essence, 'Turn your vessels (hearts) upside down' – detach from the impurities, whispers, and tribulations of this world, lest they become breeding grounds for contamination.

That clay pot humbled me before the boundless mercy of my Self-Sufficient Lord, who has embedded guidance within every particle of creation, awaiting our discerning gaze. Apparently inanimate objects, crafted by our hands, hold profound messages from our Lord, if only we reflect. Undoubtedly, He loves His servants dearly, having placed signs of guidance within the universe and our own souls.

This verse made me think, Like wow! we humans are created from CLAY! like what are we so proud of. We are nothing but simply parts of clay, yet we forget that and consider each other superior over others maybe cuz of our looks or race or other worldly, materialistic factors. 

We must humble ourselves and reconsider our creation and what we are actually made from everytime we are proud of who we are.

Isn't it interesting that Allah tells us that our bodies are made from an extract of clay. And then we read about a punishment for people who disobeyed Him (by following their bodily desires) came in the form of baked clay (clay that has been exposed to great heat)?  It almost seems like a literal display of someone reaping what they sowed. Allahu A'lem

And isn't also interesting that the people who obey shaytan are punished in the fire, and the people who spend their life fighting against him are blessed with flowing rivers for all of eternity?
