فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ

These verses remind me that life is not a destination we eventually reach; it is a journey where we move from one responsibility to the next. There is no permanent state of leisure or complete rest. Every season carries a purpose, and every achievement is simply the beginning of another chapter.

When one task is complete, another begins. When we reach one goal, Allah opens the door to a new one. Even in worship, once we finish one act of devotion, we move on to another. A heart that lives with Allah never truly stops—it keeps renewing itself.

What I love most is that the verses do not end with, “So strive.” They continue with, “And to your Lord direct your longing.” It is as if Allah is teaching us that the challenge is not the number of responsibilities we carry, but the direction of our hearts. When our deepest desire is Allah, every responsibility becomes an act of worship, every hardship becomes a source of reward, and every busy moment becomes another step closer to Him.

It all comes down to the right intention.

Perhaps the most beautiful lesson is that happiness is not found in waiting for a day when we have nothing left to do. It is found in giving meaning to everything we do, and in keeping Allah present at the beginning and the end of every task.

Life will always move from one responsibility to another, but the heart remains attached to its Lord, drawing strength from Him every time it begins again.

﴿فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانصَبْ ۝ وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَبْ﴾

هذه الآية تذكرني أن الحياة مو مكان نصل إليها، بل رحلة ننتقل فيها من مسؤولية إلى أخرى. لا يوجد فراغ دائم، ولا راحة دائمة، بل لكل مرحلة رسالة، ولكل إنجاز بداية جديدة.

حين ننتهي من عمل، يبدأ واجب آخر. حين نحقق هدفًا، يفتح الله بابًا لهدف جديد. وحتى في العبادة، إذا فرغنا من عبادة انتقلنا إلى أخرى، لأن القلب الذي يعيش مع الله لا يعرف التوقف، بل يعرف التجدد.
 لا تكتفي بقول: ﴿فَانصَبْ﴾، بل تختم بـ ﴿وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَبْ﴾. وكأنها تعلمنا أن المشكلة ليست في كثرة المسؤوليات، وإنما في وجهة القلب. فإذا كانت رغبتك في الله، تحولت الواجبات إلى عبادة، والتعب إلى أجر، والانشغال إلى طريق يقربك منه.
كله بالنية الصح.
احلى شي  أن يأتي يوم لا يكون فيه شيء نفعله، بل في أن يكون لكل ما نفعله معنى، وأن يكون الله حاضرًا في بداية كل مهمة ونهايتها. فالحياة تنتقل من واجب إلى واجب، أما القلب فيبقى متعلقًا بربه، يستمد منه القوة في كل مرة يبدأ من جديد.

Allah bless you with deep understanding of Quran 

In previous ayaah we learn that Allah said The great amount of ease comes with difficulty. 

But we can't sit around and do nothing even when we know Allah Ar-Rahman providing blessings towards us. 

Then, Allah continue told us to be productive in order to gain the great ease in life. 

Productive doing things which are both beneficial for our dunya and akhirah. 

'When your find yourself free, exhaust yourself.' 

May Allah always guide us to spend our time wisely. Allahuma Ameen.

From Recitation to Reflection 
When Allah Says "With"

Isha Prayer · Surah Ash-Sharh (94:1–8)

If your heart feels heavy today...
If you've been carrying something for so long that you no longer remember what it feels like to set it down...
Then perhaps these verses are for you as much as they were for me.

When we are hurting, we naturally begin waiting.
"One day this will be over."
"One day things will become easier."
Without even realizing it, we begin looking for ease somewhere in the future, 
as though it can only begin once the hardship has finally passed.

But Allah chooses a different word.
مَعَ — maʿa — with.
Not after hardship.
With hardship.
That one word has brought comfort to my heart more times than I can count.
Because it means that ease is not waiting for you at the end of the road.
It is already with you.

Perhaps it doesn't look the way you imagined.
It may be the strength to face another morning.
A hand reaching for yours at just the right moment.
A quiet du'a whispered through tears.
Or the gentle certainty that Allah SWT has remained close, even when everything else has felt far away.

Then the surah gently lifts our gaze.
﴿فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَانصَبْ ۝ وَإِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَارْغَبْ﴾
"So when you have finished, devote yourself. And to your Lord alone direct your longing."

Not because your pain doesn't matter.
It does.
Not because healing happens all at once.
It doesn't.
But because the heart slowly begins to breathe again when it finds rest with the One who has always been near.

I feel that is why people return to this surah again and again.
It does not promise a life without hardship.
It reminds a weary heart of something it desperately needs to remember:
Allah never speaks of hardship without also speaking of ease.
And somehow...
That makes it possible to breathe again.

As I grow older، I have learned that if you truly want to know somebody ask them what they do in their free time. It tells a lot about a person. 

But unfortunately today, when I ask this question most common answers include watching movies, listening to music, or doom scrolling social media - activities that often bring no benefit for neither this life nor the next.

That is why this ayah feels like a personal advice for modern times. It teaches us that when we become free from our worldly responsibilities - whether work, studies, or daily tasks - we should turn to Allah through prayer, dhikr, or Qur'an. Such moments not only benefit hereafter but also bring peace, purpose, and barakah into our worldly lives.

In an age where remembrance of Allah swt is often overlooked, choosing to remember Him during your free time makes you stand out. Just like a rare gem is noticed among ordinary stones, a person who turns to Allah when others are distracted makes one distinguished in His sight. These are the moments that nurture taqwa, protect us from sins, and elevate our rank with Allah swt.

The way you spend your free time is often the clearest reflection of what occupies your heart. Choose it to grow closer to Allah swt.

Jazak Allahu khayran for a timely reminder on how we spend our free moments.

Bismillah 

I saw a meme earlier on that was saying :

"Time flies so fast .  When we were kids , we used to long for eid , but in adulthood we long for ramadhan even much more than we did long eid "

I think this is a globall meme , adulthood has its fair share of global burden , anxiety and pressure upon us . 
All year round SubhanAllah from time to time we might experience fatal chokes of life , the days when the brain is just overworking and our beds turns into a thought ground .
The above mentioned Meme points out that after 11 months the month of peace and settling comes to give us comfort in our hearts by permission of Allah.

BUT hold on ! Yeah we all know that Ramadhan is a special month Alhamdhullilah for it , but why dont we attain that mental peace and comfort of the heart the rest of the 11 months .
What are not doing to carry with us the fruits of Ramadhan with us till the next ramdhan In Shaa Allah .

Here is some thoughts and reflection why :
 Ash -Sharh :
During this blessed month we do feel that something has been lifted off our chest , and that a heavy burden of anxiety , fear , regret  from from our shoulder and are all replaced with hope , joy , peace and alot of dua and immense tawakul.
Allah says:
● surely  with hardship comes ease 
● Surely with hardship comes ease 
● So once you have fullfilled your duty strive in devotion

Human logical thinking 
We human have tendency to reward ourselves when we do complete a certain duty , 
And the problem with us , is that we dont have a limit in granting ourselves reward 

But our logic is somewhat interfering with a divine advice : 
●" SO ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR DUTY STRIVE IN DEVOTION "

Lets dive a little bit into the arabic term used 
فَإِذَا فَرَغْتَ فَٱنصَبْ

The word Fansab means 
●to exert effort
●to toil, strive, work
 ●to endure fatigue for a purpose

What does our human logic tell us :
"After iftar , since  alhamdhullilah i refrained from eating from the fajr adhan to maghrib adhan and that was my target and i have achieved its time to reward myself :

- By not leaving the dining table , now its your time to enjoy every meal on the table such that ,you end up so full you cant pray taraweh or even Isha becomes too difficult for you 
-Since you fasted and it was not okay to scroll on social media , but now you have break your fast its time to scroll for hours that even suhur becomes too extreme for you to wake up 
-Since you were so devoted in istighfar the whole day and now the fasting period has ended you now turn to yapping and storyy telling for hours 

All the possible ways we end up rewarding ourselves improve nothing in us , instead it weakens us , makes us of the heedless 

I was reading surah waqia the other day , and i was so struck by an ayah .

Allah says in surah waqia that :
In the Day of judgement the human beings will be grouped into 3 categories only , which are :
1. The forerunners > Those who were ahead racing to do good 
2. The people of the right > The believers /Strivers
3. The people of the left > The people of hell fire 

So i started reading who are these people their prior actions in this world and their rewards/punishment in the hereafter .
When i got to the people of the hell fire/the people of the left .
Allah didnt say they were mushrikun , they were deniers , they were kafirr , they were hypocrates as there 1st description 
He said SWT :

●"Indeed, before this ˹torment˺ they were spoiled by luxury,"

SubhaAllah the first description is that these people planged themselves into much ease that made them forget themselves , made worship difficult for them , made them lose sight of the SCALE .

مترفين  Mutrafin 

Means indulging in luxury 
Luxury that makes one soft 
Luxury that makes one weak
Luxury that slowly destroys 

●And thats our logic in ramadhan fast the whole day then indulge the whole night 
●Building the whole day and destroying the whole night 
●Fortifying taqwa the whole day and cutting its root the whole night 

This coming ramadhan [Allahuma balighni ]
●Lets build during the day and fortify during the night 
●Lets sow during the day and water our garden (heart) during the nightt 

Allah tells us of the character of a people in the Quran multiple times/places :
People who when are burdened they call onto Allah crying , begging , sleeping ,sitting and standing 
But when Allah crant them ease and blessing after their hardship they immediately without no delay , almost instantly turn away from Allah 

That is definately the description of many of us all through the year and moresoo during ramadhan nights .

We are creatures who dont know to put limit on ease /indulgence 

Allah says in surahAl adiya
"( Human ) are trully extreme in their love for good "

Lets build our taqwa by exerting pressure and forceful and purposefull toiling and striving everytime 
Lets pray for protection agains turning away when ease comes our way 

Lets strive for Taqwa 
Lets start doing away with our social media account as early as now .

Bismillah.

Being in a profession where I get to speak to a lot of people about their personal life, it made me realise that the definition of 'hardship' or 'happiness' truly depends on one's perception and mindset.

I have met people who have all sorts of serious conditions you can name of, that is negatively affecting their quality of life, being in pain or disabled. And yet the person would still be smiling and greet you kindly, being nice, polite, appear calm, grateful and content. 

I have met people who have absolutely everything. Healthy body, great wealth, surrounded by supportive family and friends. And yet, still not happy, always have things to complain about, angry, discontent, being depressed and having no peace in their hearts.

I don't judge and it's not my place to judge. I empathize and try to understand. Everyone has their own past, experience, and own way of dealing with things.

This is my favourite surah that I would never miss in all of my prayers. 

'have we not uplifted your heart for you?', 'relieved you of the burden which weighed so heavily on your back' 
'surely with hardship comes ease'
'surely with hardship comes ease'
'once you have fulfilled your duty, strive in devotion'
'turning to your Lord alone with hope'.

I think I've read somewhere that this surah can cure depression. Whether it's true or not I don't know but it has surely helped me.

Helped me realise that what is 'hardship' in this short, uncertain life compared to the eternal certain hereafter. 

Helped me understand that we humans have limit. So after you do your best, turn to Allah and leave everything to Him. Leave the uncertainty to Allah and have good thoughts about Him. Deal with whatever that comes after, whether good or bad, with patience and remembrance of Allah. With that thought, may your heart feel at peace and content.

There are days when the weight of life feels overwhelming—when pain, stress from studies, the noise of children, housework, my mother’s illness, anxiety about the future, my own declining health, and worries about earning for myself all combine and press down on me until I feel I can’t bear it. Today was one such day. The burden became too much, and I broke down and cried. I found myself sitting with a friend, sharing everything I had kept inside for so long, hoping my heart would feel lighter. For days, I had been feeling withdrawn, even though I tried to continue my prayers, Quran recitation, tasbeeh, work, and studies. Still, worry and comparison crept into my heart, whispering that my troubles would never end, that they were stuck in an endless loop. In those moments of talking, my mind suddenly remembered the verse, 'Indeed, with hardship comes ease,' repeated twice in Surah Ash-Sharh.

And right after that, Allah says, 'So once you have fulfilled your duty, strive in devotion, turning to your Lord alone with hope.' I had read these verses that morning, and all day they echoed in the back of my mind. Even as hopelessness tried to settle in my heart, these four verses returned to me again and again. Later, I read someone’s reflection about noticing a falling leaf and realizing that nothing goes unnoticed by Allah, not even the smallest details we might think are hidden or unimportant.

This struck me deeply. What I found in that reflection was a reminder that my Lord has not left me alone, even in my moments of despair. Even when I feel invisible or overwhelmed, He sees me and cares for me. That connection, through His words, gave me comfort and a hint of relief—I realized that truly, after hardship will come ease. My duty is to remain steadfast in prayer and hope, to keep making dua, and to have faith that relief is on its way.

Standing in the cardiac ward today with the holter momitoting device waiting for my echo is totally a new experience from chemotherapy ward to orthopedic then to chest , a struggle since almost three years .
I was just pondering and reflecting
Where I'm now 
What is inside my heart 
Is this illness changed anything in me spiritually?
Why Allah swt has put me in this situation?
I have full tawakul that Allah is Al Hakeem
I was just for sometime looking at the doctors and nurses older than me and healthy , working.
But then I started counting the blessings I have and the beautiful childhood, young life full of energy and joy.
Now this is the time to spend time with Allah and utilizing effectively.
This is his Mercy that he has given me a chance to repent.
          My faith and emaan increases 
That whatever happening with us has a purpose.
I learned to be humble and a big change is the recitation of Quran and understanding the words of Allah swt trying to follow and applying in daily life.
It is his Mercy and I'm thankful to Allah swt for this blessing.
We have to have full confidence in our Rabb.
Some Surahs help me in this difficult time.
All are beautiful but 
           'Surah Al- Inshirah'
It heals me whenever I'm tired , giving up and depressed..
My heart find peace and calm . 
This Surah has some hidden treasures which I cannot explain in words .
This Surah increased my love for our Prophet Muhammad ( Saw).
Last verses make me cry that how loving our Rabb is .
May Allah give shifa to all of those who are I'll..

Dear sister,   Thank you for sharing this deep reflection and dua despite clearly being challenged with your own health.  Thank you for your dua especially as my youngest son has just memorised learnt to read this surah and your relection helped me to explain its meaning to him.  MAy Allah, ash-Shaafi grant you complete healing and all the blessings in this dunya and akhirah. 

'So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].
And to your Lord direct your longing.'( 94:7–8)

'‘So when you have finished, then stand up, and to your Lord direct your longing’ — this Qur'anic principle is among the most powerful and profound calls to action and to diligence in making the most of one’s time before regret overtakes.

جزاكم الله خيرا كثيرا 

When you are uncoccupied from any assignment, stand up striving for next mission and assignment and only to your Master and Caretaker so aspire. 
What a way to live, how efficient, time bound, productive, beneficial in this world and hereafter 

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

As we approach the end of 2024, these verses beautifully remind us of the hardships we’ve endured—as an ummah, as Muslims, and as human beings. Today, like many others, I find myself reflecting on the challenges I’ve faced and pondering how I can use the endurance they’ve instilled in me to navigate the opportunities and trials that the new year, insha'Allah, may bring.

The words, 'So surely with hardship comes ease. Surely with [that] hardship comes [more] ease' reassure us that for every difficulty, there are multiple forms of ease that follow. In moments of struggle, it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, especially when success feels delayed. Yet, when we surrender our plans and expectations to Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى, we strengthen our iman, sabr, and tawakkul.

To 'turn to your Lord [alone] with hope' is to let go of attachment to this dunya and trust in His divine planning for what awaits us in 2025, insha'Allah. As we strive to become better Muslims and devote ourselves to our ibādah, may we continue to seek His guidance and find peace in His decree. 

Dua for the new year: 'Oh Allah, bring this [month or year] upon us with security, iman, safety, Islam, protection from shaytan, and your pleasure'. 🤲♡
