There are some people who have a subtle and a unique disposition or character that, when they enter among a group of people, they can instantly feel his presence and a delightful, warm glow that oozes out of him; and yet when he leaves again, his presence still lingers in their minds and hearts and they easily remember him. And he doesn't really have to "do" anything to create that impression on others. He just walks in and he naturally remains very quiet, calm, and humble.

If a single person can have such an effect on others even just with his non-action, silence, or just a few words uttered with a humble tone, we can surely say that Allah's "presence" is infinitely greater and incomparable to anything because to Him belong the most noble attributes, though we cannot see Him nor hear Him physically in this world.

NAME OF ALLAH : AL-MALIK:

After reflecting on the name of Allah, Al-Malik (The Sovereign King), I realized that He is the Omnipotent Ruler of the universe, possessing absolute control over every minute detail. Whenever I stand for prayer, I envision myself entering the majestic palace of Allah, prepared to perform Salah with precision and devotion. My intention is clear: to impress Him with flawless recitation of Surahs, demonstrating my reverence and gratitude. I understand that after prayer, I can petition Him for anything, and He may graciously bestow it upon me.

What sets our Malik apart from earthly kings is His boundless generosity. While they can only offer material wealth, Allah, the Sovereign King, can grant life, knowledge, sustenance, clothing, intelligence, eloquence, confidence, and relief from incurable diseases and more.

The most beautiful aspect of our Malik's nature is His unwavering eagerness to respond to our devotion. As the Hadith says, 'If you take one step towards Allah, He will take ten steps towards you'. When we draw near to Him, He rushes to fulfil our desires, demonstrating His infinite mercy and love.


I wonder how beautiful is my Master, Allah's majesty is beyond words.

When we love somebody, 
we want to see them strong and protective of us. 
We desire that sense of security, 
that feeling of being shielded from harm.

And in the realm of faith, 
in our relationship with Allah SWT, 
we find this longing fulfilled 
in the most profound and comforting way imaginable.

When we come to know Allah SWT as:
Al-Aziz, the overpowering and Al-Jabar, the compeller, 
we discover a love and protection that transcends all boundaries. 

Al-Aziz, the overpowering, signifies His unmatched strength and sovereignty. It's the assurance that Allah's power surpasses them all no matter what challenges we face. He's the ultimate source of strength, the one who can crush any adversity standing in our path. And when we love someone, knowing that they possess such strength—it's like finding refuge in a fortress of ultimate protection.

And then there's Al-Jabar, the compeller. It's about recognizing Allah's authority and His control over every aspect of our lives. When we love someone, we want them to have that ability to shape our world for the better. And in Allah, we find the absolute authority, the one who orchestrates the universe according to His divine plan. He's the one who can bend circumstances to His will, who can guide us through the complexities of life with unwavering wisdom and care.

So, when we understand Allah as Al-Aziz and Al-Jabar, it's like discovering a profound love that transcends all earthly bounds. It's knowing that we are cherished and protected by the most powerful force in existence. And in that realization, our love for Him grows even deeper and stronger, as we surrender ourselves to His boundless mercy and grace.

And Allah knows best.

You probably know the word 'self-serving bias' a cognitive bias that really is our 'unconscious thought error' that comes from our brains to simplify complicated problems around us. 
Self- serving bias is the assumption that we think it is our own credit when good things happen to us, as we did all the right things to make it happen.  And bad things happen as a result of external factors beyond our control. 

This bias( thinking mistakes) leads to a tendency to blame external circumstances, people, or objects for bad outcomes rather than accepting personal responsibility.
This tendency is evidenced in the verses that follow.

When something good came their way, they said, 'This is ours.' And when something bad happened to them, they ascribed the evil omen to Moses and those with him. In fact, their omen is with God, but most of them do not know. (7:131)

…and if a benefit comes to them, they say: This is from Allah; and if a misfortune befalls them, they say: This is from you. Say: All is from Allah, but what is the matter with these people that they do not make approach to understanding what is told (them) (4:78) Partial.  

please look at these following verses 

'Most of them follow nothing but ˹inherited˺ assumptions. ˹And˺ surely assumptions can in no way replace the truth. Allah is indeed All-Knowing of what they do.' (10:36)

There’s another one my personal favorite ' What is wrong with you? 
How do you draw your conclusions' (68:36) 

We now understand why there are so many verses about human perception and assumptions. Right?  
These verses speak of human tendencies and the errors in thinking that most of us make.  How clearly Allah swt explains these thinking errors in order for us to learn to take responsibility for our own actions because we will be held accountable for them. 

Besides, these 'thinking errors' make us more human, they are our common ground for being more affectionate and easygoing with one another. 'I am superior or better than everyone' attitudes have no place in Islam. It is only Allah who is without flaws. 

He is Allah besides Whom there is no one worthy of worship but He, the King, the Holy, the one free from all defects, the Giver of security, the Watcher over His creatures, the Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allah above all that they associate as partners with Him. (59:23)

That’s why, our aslaf used to do tazqiya of their thoughts too…

Al-Mutakkabir comes from the root k-b-r, and 'Kabeer' in regular parlance is used to describe something that is great or big physically. You would say 'Al-baytu kabeer' (the house is big). Al-Mutakabbir is the only One who possesses rights and attributes that are above anyone else’s. That’s why this Name is exclusive to God Almighty, and if used for a human, it has the negative connotation of arrogance. An arrogant person is one who sees that they have rights or attributes above other people - that they are greater than others - and so they disdain others because of that. If ever you find yourself looking down on others because of your achievements, luck or even things you were born with, remember the ultimate source of those things. And remember that the only One who is above us all is God.

The 99 Names of Allah

Al-Jabbar, like the majority of the Names of God, is of an intensified form so it not only means the 'one who compels' or ‘one who restores,’ but the One who does so completely. When Jabbar is used for people, it is negative, because they use their oppressive nature to compel or restore, whereas God can never be oppressive. This Name demonstrates God's Majesty and Strength over His servants. This is a Name for the tyrants and oppressors to be aware of, because their misdeeds will not go unpunished. Yet this Name has another dimension: Al-Jabbar is the One who is able to restore and mend what is broken. Some of the great scholars would supplicate 'Ya Jaabir kul kaseer' when they were faced with overwhelming difficulty, meaning 'Oh You who mends everything that is broken.' The Arabic word for a splint that is used to help an arm heal when it is broken is 'jibeera' from the same root ja-ba-ra. Thus, when we feel broken, we need to go to the only One who can mend our state: Al-Jabbar. Sometimes when we get this broken feeling, shaytan (satan) tells us not to go to God because we are being hypocritical by only going to God when we are down. Yet this is untrue – God has named Himself Al-Jabbar and given Himself this attribute; you cannot go to the One whose attribute is mending what is broken, and not be healed by Him.

This name has been expressed over 95 times in the Qur’an. Al-Zajaaj said: He is the Invincible that no one can overpower, and others said: He is the All-Powerful who is able to overpower everything, and it is also said: There is nothing like Him. And of His Names are Al-Mu’izz, meaning He gives ‘izza to whomever He wishes. And ‘izza is the opposite of humiliation.

Al-Muhaymin comes from the root h-m-n (ه-م-ن). The root can be used in the context of a bird that haymana over its chicks, meaning it extended its wing over them, protecting them. If a soldier does 'haymana' over a city, it means he took control of it and watches over it. God Almighty also describes the Qur’an as muhaymin, meaning that it will dominate over all the other books. So haymana is complete control, and when it comes to God Almighty, one that is accompanied with protection. If you mess up at work, and someone tells you, 'Everything is going to be ok;' it is not always reassuring. The person might mean well, but you know that they have no power over the situation, so their reassurance does not really help. But if your boss tells you, 'Don’t worry about it;' then you are at peace. Why? Because you know that he is the one with ultimate control over the situation. If he tells you, 'Don’t worry about it,' you know you don’t have to worry. You know you can be at ease. God Almighty is Al-Muhaymin. He is the One in total control who protects and overlooks all of our affairs.

This Name of God Almighty, when realized, is beautiful and can do much to strengthen our hearts. Mu’min comes from the root a-m-n, which can mean to be secure, safe, free from fear and also to believe in. As human beings, we have weaknesses. We have fears. And as Imam Al-Ghazali, may God have mercy on him, explains, the biggest fear is eternal damnation, and nothing can protect us from that but the profession of faith in the unity of God. That is where true security and safety lie. If you believe in God Almighty, truly believe, then He is the source of security. He will give you safety. It is through faith in God Almighty that we are given true security. When we recite the Qur’an, we can see how its teachings and lessons are directly applicable to the world today. We can find comfort in the fact that God Almighty makes after hardship, ease (Qur’an, 65:7); we widen our vision when we understand that we may dislike something that might actually be good for us (Qur’an, 2:216); and we force ourselves to self-reflect when God Almighty tells us that the corruption we see around us may very well be what our own hands have wrought (Qur’an, 30:41). This iman means that we are secure in our hearts. Therefore, when we say we have iman, what we are saying is that we have been granted security and tranquility.

We all understand 'salaam' to mean peace, but this word has a number of dimensions, and they all relate to God's Name as-Salaam. The root s-l-m also means to be free from defect. Salaama means safety. So how are these meanings interrelated and how does that manifest in God's Beautiful Name? God's actions are free from fault or blemish; He is flawless. As human beings, we try to seek and create what is flawless because we have a natural affinity towards it. And precisely what disturbs us and prevents a peaceful existence is when we put all of our hopes in the imperfect. We depend on other human beings as we should depend on God, and when we are disappointed in them, we are broken. We may get angry or frustrated when things don’t work out the seemingly perfect way we wanted. But that is because people and things are not perfect. And when we let go of that, and understand that we all have faults, we are in a better position to work in our environment and try to make it better. The lack of perfection does not cause us to despair. We understand that it is only God who is Flawless. We seek peace from the Flawless Source of Peace by attempting to remove the blemishes from our heart, and we are then granted peace insha’God (God willing). We free ourselves from the shackles of resentment, self-righteousness and rage. We start to do this by humbling ourselves to God Almighty and realizing that everything comes from Him. The anger in our hearts only harms us and shows discontent with the divine decree. We need to let go. As the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Know that what has passed you by was not going to befall you; and that what has befallen you was not going to pass you by,' [Tirmidhi]. We are told in the Qur’an of 'the Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children. But only one who comes to God with a sound heart' (Qur’an, 26:88-89). The sound heart is 'qalb saleem', from the same root of God's Name as-Salaam. We are also given an example of the one who had such a heart: 'And indeed, among his kind was Abraham, when he came to his Lord with a sound heart.' (Qur’an, 37:83-84)
