Ordenamos a Moisés trinta noites (de solidão), as quais aumentamos de outras dez, de maneira que o tempo fixado porseu Senhor foi, no total, de quarenta noites. E Moisés disse ao seu irmão Aarão: Substitui-me, ante meu povo; age de modocorreto e não sigas a senda dos depravados.
Explicação
The two readings either have the same meaning, or the first includes an element of mutuality: God committed to give Moses (pbuh) revelation and prophethood, and Moses committed to arrive at the Mount at the appointed time and fulfil the responsibility given to him. In the other meaning (and the second reading), it means that God “promised” in the sense of “commanded” because the command contained honour and status for Moses [Ibn ‘Ashur].
