Whenever your journey back to Allah feels like an uphill battle, remember what Allah says:

واصبر على ما يقولون واهجرهم هجرا جميلا (١٠)
'Be patient ˹O Prophet˺ with what they say, and depart from them courteously.'

Be patient with the people around you. Be patient over what they say.  Always return it with kindness. Do not feel tempted to expose your good deeds when your character is misrepresented. Your reward is not with them, it is with Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ). 

Allah says: 

فلا تعلم نفس ما أخفي لهم من قرة أعين جزاء بما كانوا يعملون (١٧)
'No soul can imagine what delights are kept in store for them as a reward for what they used to do.'

No matter what your life looks like at any point, no matter how overwhelming it gets, remember how Generous our Lord is. We could never be deprived of goodness from a Lord named Al-Kareem. We could never be turned away after drawing near to Al-Wadood. He would never be unjust to you. It is an absolute impossibility.

Do not give up on your efforts. Do not despair. Keep striving to do good and improve your character. It is ALL being counted. 

Allah says: 
هل جزاء الإحسان إلا الإحسان (٦٠)
'Is there any reward for goodness except goodness?'

Every single tear, every whispered dua, every prayer, every sincere intention is being counted. It does not matter whether or not the people are pleased with you or if they think you're sincere. Your reward is not with them. Be patient. 

Is the reward for Ihsan anything but good?

Hasan Al-Basri (رَحِمَهُ ٱللَّٰهُ) said,

'If people conceal their good deeds, Allah (عَزَّ وَجَلَّ) will conceal for them what no eye has seen and what has never crossed the mind of man.' 

Keep striving. Be patient. Renew your intention. And no matter what, always, ALWAYS respond with kindness and patience. 

And don't forget to smile, it's sunnah!

Surah Muzammil, verse 10, offers profound guidance: 
'And be patient over what they say and part from them in a gracious manner.'

For those who claim that Quran does not address mental health or the complexities of emotional struggles, this verse stands as a testament to its role as a guide and healer—a therapist in the truest sense.

In our modern world, when faced with toxic relationships or harsh words, many turn to therapists for advice. Often, the guidance they receive emphasizes setting boundaries, walking away from harm, and safeguarding one's mental well-being. Remarkably, this wisdom, seen as contemporary, has been embedded in the Quran for centuries. The Creator, in His infinite mercy, not only acknowledges the pain inflicted by others but provides a divine solution that nurtures both the heart and soul.

Allah, the Lord of all creation, addresses every aspect of human existence—physical, spiritual, and emotional. Every being, believer or non-believer, is His creation, and He does not trivialize the struggles of any soul. While humanity may create divisions, the Quran emphasizes that superiority lies solely in righteousness as determined by Allah, not by human judgment. This perspective invites us to rise above petty disputes and embrace a higher moral ground.

To 'be patient over what they say' is more than passive endurance; it is an act of inner strength and resilience. Patience here is therapeutic—it allows the believer to process pain without succumbing to anger or despair. It reflects an understanding that every trial carries wisdom, and every hardship is an opportunity to grow closer to Allah.

The instruction to 'part from them in a gracious manner' further underscores the Quran’s holistic guidance. This parting is not an escape born of weakness, but a dignified boundary that protects one’s mental and spiritual health. It teaches us that leaving does not have to be bitter or filled with malice; it can be beautiful, marked by self-respect and trust in Allah’s justice. This act of grace transforms separation into an empowering choice—a reflection of divine ethics.

In these words, the Quran offers a form of therapy unlike any other. Modern counseling addresses the external symptoms of distress, but the Quran delves into the root, healing both the soul and the psyche. It validates the pain caused by toxic interactions, guides us to respond with patience and dignity, and reminds us that ultimate judgment belongs to Allah alone. This divine justice, perfect and comprehensive, is a source of profound solace for the believer.

The verse also highlights a broader principle: that every creation of Allah, regardless of belief, deserves respect. Yet, the believer’s journey is unique—it calls them to embody compassion, humility, and wisdom. The difference between a believer and non-believer lies not in human arrogance but in the divine purpose set by the Creator. Thus, even in parting, the believer is called to reflect beauty and grace, trusting that Allah's wisdom will prevail.

Surah Muzammil, verse 10, encapsulates the essence of divine therapy. It addresses the struggles of the heart, offers tools for resilience, and elevates the believer’s response to adversity. Through patience and gracious separation, the Quran provides not just a command but a remedy—a path to balance, peace, and dignity that heals the soul and nurtures the mind. It reminds us that the Quran is not just a book of laws but a timeless source of guidance, compassion, and healing for all who seek it.

May Allah keep our hearts clean for the Quran to show its effect on it

I was watching Bruce Lee's epic interview on you tube and really liked what he said, about water. I immediately think of Quran, what Quran says about water. Allah mentioned water 63 times in Quran, some verses to show the beauty and generosity of His creation and some to warn. We are created from water, everything on earth is dependent on water to serve us, to feed us. We are 70% water. here I come up with some wisdom of water that we can take heed from.
1. Be like water, shape less: Be content with whatever Allah grants and takes away. Be humble with others, tame the ego.
2. Be deep: be deep in the faith that - Allah is the most powerful over everything and other articles of faith.
3. Flow: flowing water never gets filthy. flow, get going, be active, make your way no matter what. just like water
4. Be generous: Water is very generous. Water bodies, like river, lake etc are contaminated and destroyed by people. but still we have plenty of water. 
5. Be flexible but irresistible : water is so flexible, nothing is more flexible than water, but no one can resist it from going to its own destination. Our destination is the hereafter. 
6. Benefit others: Water never waits for acknowledgement after it  benefits other things to grow.
7. Change form: Water become steam to go up so that it can come down to benefit others in liquid or solid form. Take different forms in different situations of life without loosing own identity but still be beneficial to others. become nothing in front of people to get higher rank from Allah, pour ourselves to others when required to benefit then, fall like snow to keep balance the temperature of  the earth.

O you wrapped ˹in your clothes˺

This was a  call at the dawn of revelation, to rise at night, to purify the soul, and to carry the divine trust. The command to 'rise'. 

Surah Al-Muzzammil was a cornerstone in preparing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as he embraced his mission of calling others to Allah, nurturing a heart illuminated with light and steadfast in faith.

The mission to propagate and to warn others did not start on forming new policies, and refining the words to be used in advocacy. 

It started with seclusion, and the Qur’an. 

And what a reminder for us,  in an age of constant noise and distraction, that revival begins in the unseen hours. Aqwam qeela, “most upright in speech”,  is not just a description of the Prophet’s night recitation, but an invitation to us: to realign our words, our worship, and our lives around the Qur’an.

Through these verses, Allah is teaching us that carrying His message requires hearts that are first carried by Him, through prayer, reflection, and devotion in the night.
So tonight, before the world awakes, let your soul awaken.
Stand. Recite. Listen.
For it is in those quiet hours that Allah rebuilds the heart,
making it steady enough to bear His word and tender enough to convey His mercy.

How did Allah advise the Prophet ‎ﷺ in dealing with those who harmed him? 

In Surah Muzammil, Allah says, 'And be patient over what they say and avoid them with gracious avoidance.' What do we get from this verse? The ulema have said that this means to first try to show patience, and if you cannot, then leave them alone graciously. First you try to endure the problems/difficulty. If it is beyond your limit, at that point stay away from it. 

What does it mean to stay away? Allah describes the action of avoiding them as 'jamil'. To stay away from them in this manner is more than just being kind or not rude, but to not speak of them maliciously and not to give them the headspace. 

We should also look into what it means to have 'patience'. Patience isn’t to complain. Patience is to control yourself from complaining and creating a bigger issue. Talking about how patient you are isn’t showing patience. 

Look at the example of the Prophet (saw) when he was harmed. Many of those who caused him harm eventually became Muslim. Be like him ‎ﷺ in your dawah. We say we are 'defending the Prophet ‎ﷺ' but a lot of times we’re only defending our nafs.

Lastly, the next ayah in Surah Muzammil, Allah says, 'And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little.' 

Allah is Al Muqsit, and Allah knows how to deal with those who have transgressed. Your job isn’t to get into petty battles on social media and lower your standards while doing so. Many are saying they are doing this in defense of the Prophet, but are you really defending the Prophet if you’re acting in a way that’s opposite of his Sunnah? Let's reflect on this.
