وعلمناه صنعة لبوس لكم لتحصنكم من باسكم فهل انتم شاكرون ٨٠

وَعَلَّمْنَـٰهُ صَنْعَةَ لَبُوسٍۢ لَّكُمْ لِتُحْصِنَكُم مِّنۢ بَأْسِكُمْ ۖ فَهَلْ أَنتُمْ شَـٰكِرُونَ ٨٠

وَعَلَّمۡنَٰهُ

صَنۡعَةَ

لَبُوسٖ

لَّكُمۡ

لِتُحۡصِنَكُم

مِّنۢ

بَأۡسِكُمۡۖ

فَهَلۡ

أَنتُمۡ

شَٰكِرُونَ

En Wij leerden hem kleding (maliënkolders) te maken om jullie te beschermen in jullie oorlog. Zullen jullie dan dankbaren zijn?

لِتُحۡصِنَكُمْ

li-tuḥṣinakum

“so it may protect you”

“so it may protect you”

This verb is conjugated in the third person masculine singular, going back to the word labūs, the protective armour.

لِنُحۡصِنَكُمْ

li-nuḥṣinakum

“so We may protect you”

This verb is conjugated in the first-person majestic plural, i.e. Allah protects through what He has taught mankind.
